Seen him in CT. With my father as a young man. Had a concert shirt till my mid twenties. Amazing in person and I got to say live is where he shined. RIP.

JJ Cale took from him, that's true. He is playing blues licks mostly, maybe mixolydian scale here and there and he also plays rhythm changes, like, he follows the chord notes.
