Clarence Thomas EXPLODES in Dissent! SCOTUS REJECTS Ala. Voting Map That DILUTED Black Voters' Power

The Supreme Court rules in favor of Alabama Black voters.
The court's decision was unexpected given its recent trend of decisions weakening provisions of the Voting Rights Act. The 5-4 decision written by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. was joined by fellow conservative Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson.
The decision upheld a ruling by a three-judge panel that Alabama's congressional maps unlawfully diluted the political power of its Black residents. The maps included only one congressional district with a majority of Black voters, despite African Americans making up more than a quarter of the state's population.
The ruling means that a second Democrat could be elected from the state, which currently has one Black Democrat and six White Republicans in its delegation.
Justice Clarence Thomas sharply rebuked the decision, arguing that the Voting Rights Act did not require the state to intentionally redraw its congressional districts so that Black voters could control several seats roughly proportional to the Black share of the state's population.
This decision is the first for current Supreme Court justices to consider how to apply the Voting Rights Act to districts drawn with racial representation in mind. The fight centers on the state's Black Belt, where many of the state's Black voters live.
Alabama Congresswoman Terri Sewell and Joe L. Reed, Vice-Chair of Minority Affairs, Alabama Democratic Party spoke with Roland Martin about this shocking decision from the Supreme Court.

I’m writing from South Africa. We have many issues with corruption of politicians and other problems. But I find it shocking that your system allows Supreme Court judges to serve lifetime terms - yet there’s no process in place to ensure that they conduct themselves in an independent, objective and ethical manner. This judge Thomas has clearly been implicated in unethical conduct by not disclosing material financial benefits he received from a benefactor, yet he’s allowed to continue serving until he decides to die? I think it’s insane that the most powerful country in the world refuses to evolve its archaic constitutional systems, including its Supreme Court and electoral college systems. Today you’re still fighting battles that people like Dr King fought for over half a century ago. It’s depressing.

I'm not surprised Clarence Thomas dissented but more surprised that Roberts was one of the judges that sided with the liberal judges because he was the one who gutted section 4.

Seems like they're just throwing out a bone, to keep the dogs away😒. Therefore they can slap us down, with the other stuff 😡 Like... We already gave you something! Be happy about that! I don't trust none of them. Especially Clarence!

I don’t want to hear nothing that Thomas has to say. Unless he tells us about why is his friend buying him. We the people should be in an uproar!!! NOW

Yes I want to thank you also for the work you do in black media star network. I am so happy there are some places to know the truth just like Busta John foundation and social media news we have to make changes in my country Haiti.

Right on Roland, you deserve those accolades', keep up the good work brother. It's some of our people, with podcast, out there hating on us. Mostly young, misguided brothers that sounds like they're on the republican's payroll. I'm sure you know who they are.
