A truly great American. He is speaking directly to the young people emphasizing responsibilities, not rights and entitlements. They must contribute as citizens he says. "Following your bliss" is a platitude too often heard at these commencements. Not by this speaker. A very moving address!

My God this is so beautiful. I am not a cryer by any stretch of the imagination. This speech has caused me tears because like the Declaration of Independence and constitution has touched my soul. Thank You Justice Clarence Thomas. I remember the attack on your character on national tv by the Democratic senators yet at the end of the day your stellar character won the day. Thank You so much for your service.

I’m glad you grew up on that small farm because, without it, you would not have been the man you are. You used the words ‘responsibility’ and “without it we would have had no food”. That is an understanding that can only be forged out of sweat and sacrifice-two of the principal ingredients that constitute free citizenship.

Justice Thomas gave a true and wonderful speach about our efforts, our Labors, weaving the fabric of liberty and Freedom in our daily lives; of a civil society. He did not mention socialism, feudalism, communism, or populism. He spoke of living life and of individual charity. A life of freedoms, It may require that we give our last full measure, or not; but eventually we will give our last. Will it be for individual liberty ...or will it be for something else, something less? -ljones

Justice Scalise died alone in a hotel room. There was a rushed cremation without an autopsy. Although he had a known cardiac history, it was typical and common for an autopsy to occur. Strange situation.

Conservatives proceed to "conserve" the ideals that made it possible for you, Peter, to bloviate without intellect. Aristocracy constricted freedom, and the principles that conservatives wish to preserve set it free. Read the real history books and stay away from the idiotic talking points given by those who would cloud your own mind with group think and a smorgasbord of shallow, meaningless "rights". In other words, really listen to what Justice Thomas actually said.

@@peterorpaulettekrempely9341 *Aristocracy cannot exist in a place where expression and other rights exist in primacy. "Conservatism"is an ideology consisting solely what it's root entreats: Conserve the word and meaning of the political system our forebears founded. Conserve everything around you - i.e., Waste not, want not. In your case, it would say to conserve those words you don't really understand: nobody can know you are an idiot if you don't advertise it with idiotic statements.*

I am absolutely astounded and stand in awe of Justice Clarence Thomas. I appreciate his upcoming, although I am whte, I too was born and reared in Sumter, South Carolina. We did have electricity, but no bathroom or running water. In the summer we picked cotton for $2.00 per 100 lbs. I made it through High School and joined the US Navy where I served for 13 years and served in Vietnam. I am now retired and get a 40% Veterans disability. God Bless You and God Speed.

I NEED FOR JUSTICE STORY TO BE MY JUDGE UPON / OUR COLLECTIVE PERFORMANCE / AND MY MEDIARY , IN GOVERNMENT PERFORMANCE // I STAND IN SUPPORT OF OUR AMERICAN CONSTITUTIONAL CONGRESSIONAL LAWS ; AND I SAY REPEAL THOSE LAWS TO MODIFICATION THAT ARE NOT , JUSTLY RIGHT AND CORRECT. THINK ABOUT THIS / AND DO THAT WHICH IS JUSTLY DUE JUST RIGHT AND PROPER.
Associate Thomas is the Epitome of what makes America ...his believe in GOD and country should be a lesson for us all... to love our fellow man. And the expression of free ideas even if we don't agree.we always have the freedom to do what no other country has... free speech.. to learn from our fellow country men. And resolve our differences in a lawful discorce... not hatred . This is what makes our country great. Coming together for a better future....

The 3 virtues: duty, honor, country. And how does that play out in Assoc. Justice Thomas' friendship with a billionaire? Relying, encouraging, accepting grossly outlandish and undisclosed GIFTS? Personal gifts of private high school tuition for his nephew? The purchase of his mother's home while she still lives there? And the yachts, the private plane trips? And yet more not disclosed to the country he is privileged to serve on the highest court of justice until he dies? Was his buddy Harlan Crow 'discharging his daily duties' to solve Thomas' own 'problems, obligations, and responsibilities'? This liberty-riddled speech is such hypocrisy. Thank you for sharing so I could hear it first-hand.

Racist? Hardly. You don't know me, so don't throw words around that are both false and incendiary. If all you can do is call someone names, you invalidate any arguments you might otherwise make. In my opinion, the fact that this man is occupying Thurgood Marshall's seat on the Supreme Court is an outrage and a travesty. This is MY opinion; make of it what you will.
@joeiiiful6 жыл бұрын
Sheldon Burnston. Whether you try to wiggle your way or not, you are a racist slimeball. The problem with you is transparent revealing what you are all about. Thomas is a patriotic America loving and Constitution loving judge who is dedicated to texualist interpretation whereas Marshall was a racist, Leftist, living document interpreter as every judge appointed by a Democrat must be. You are a typical lowlife Leftist Marxist America hating, constitution hater. Deny it, but that is going to reveal you to be a liar.

+Sheldon Burnston That seems particularly close minded. Alternative points of view are very healthy for anyone with any intellectual integrity. You missed something powerful and inspiring by not listening to and reflecting upon what he said. Perhaps you would benefit from his thoughts about good citizenship.
