I wish more people used the phrase "muscle memory" ~ I'm neurodivergent and it's really helpful for me to hear things like that (as opposed to just calling it practice). IDK why... maybe because it brings to mind more of a visual than practice does. LOL THANK YOU, Clarice!

Thank you so much for the leaf lesson. It helps me so much. I tend to go from bottom up to make leaves. But this is a new way.Thanks for the lovely explanation about the colors. I also just love to play with them without the "names" or numbers..... and paint away. Not much on mixing to make perfect combos.
@ClariceGomesdesigns4 жыл бұрын
Yes Cindy, from the bottom/stem up also works. I would practice both ways. Also I do carry out both in my videos if you notice. He he
@BluJean554 жыл бұрын
Yes! It’s good to know both ways so that you don’t have to turn your paper as much to paint leaves on each side of a branch. 😃💕

@@ClariceGomesdesigns I am having a terrible time making the flowers in your #2 video. I tried using different size round brushes. All the petals end up "skinny" looking. Maybe I'm not pressing down hard enough or I need a more flexible brush?? I have the #2, #8, #10 Princeton rounds & Silver Black Velvets in #4, #6, #8. My biggest round brush is a Princeton Snap #8. (I do have other brushes too but not ones thst would work for this.) Could it make a big difference by getting a mop brush???
@ClariceGomesdesigns4 жыл бұрын
@@ThereIsSoulInArt yes the mop brush is very diff from the regular rounds. However that being said, you can sorta cheat your way to get mop brush results...you're just going to have to go more strokes to get that thickness.

Hi Clarice, ty for these lessons they are great. About the painting colors you are using, maybe it is useful to mention the pigment numbers so that you can find the right color easier when you use another kind of paint. So I use Schmincke Horadam my favorite and Winsor and newton Cotman, they always have pigment number, so I can compare these 2 with each other, pigment numbers are great for that.
@ClariceGomesdesigns4 жыл бұрын
Hennie, so sorry. My containers don't have the numbers, so literally no way of getting the right names for some colours. Sigh...I got there 4 years ago when I just started...

@@ClariceGomesdesigns Clarice I have the St. Petersburg paints as well. I made a swatch chart with names. If you would like me to share with you, I would be very happy to do so. (I strive to keep my pans in order, so they coincide with my chart & it works for the most part. Lol)

Oh Clarise! I am feeling such mixed emotions right now! I love the tutorials I’ve been watching online and studying for the past six months but, NOW I HAVE FOUND YOU!!!!! 😂 I have down loaded your beginner Siri and I’m starting that this afternoon. My question for you now if you have time to answer is what is the calendar you’re showing in the beginning of this video? Can I find that exercise someplace! Thank you. I look forward to sharing any Cher worthy paintings I might come up with though I must admit I’m a newbie to Painting!

Do you have to use those brushes to achieve the effect you achieve? Or are they just personal preference?

Just the brushes I use. The exercise is meant to also help you get used to the brushes you have. Regular rounds are good enough brushes if you are starting new.
