How are the natural trumpets producing a wide variety of notes (especially in the second half of the piece)? I thought they could only provide a limited set of notes in the harmonic series? False tones maybe? Idk I’m stunned these guys are amazing.

Yes, these guys are amazing. To be in the room with them when they were doing their stuff was also amazing. Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, because I only made the film. You will have to contact Susan Williams,

Hello, you are right: natural trumpets can only play the natural harmonic series. Almost certainly here in the contemporary piece they are playing trumpets in different keys (one choir in C and one in D maybe?) so they can play more complex harmonies.

What kind of trombone is that? From what I've seen, it has smaller bell compared to "modern" trombones. Beautiful sound nonetheless.

Not clarini, those are really vented trumpets with holes, i.e., inventions of the XX century. Clarini are strict natural instruments.

clarini isn't an instrument... it's a register so they are true clarini because they play this register with trumpets

@Marcel Saenger trumpets in the Baroque were unvented.

Vented trumpets were used from around 1750. Sources from this period already mention these in comparison to holeless trumpets. Some decades later this led to the keyed trumpet of Anton Weidinger, with lots of holes for the keys.
