"When my father dies, kings will come to his funeral. But when yours does, his friends will come".

That is one of the best quotes in Smallville by Lex.

I would love to see a different universe where Clark actually tells Lex about his gifts and they work together!

Anyone would love to have a friend like this Lex, he always has the right words and give the best advices (and he's rich 🤑).

In all honesty, this version of Lex was one of my favorite iterations of the character. While he, by his own admission, wasn't the best person around and had a tainted mindset thanks to his parents, he did at least attempt to make himself a better person and open up to people. Unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to escape the Luthor name... That being said, I really want to know what did Lex originally order and what whipped cream-covered monstrosity did Lana accidentally make.

Not 100% sure but iirc Lex ordered cappuchino

One of the best lines even now….Lex “When my father dies kings will come who’s funeral but when yours does his friends will come”

Watching this makes me think maybe lex was a good guy, but he lost his way somehow. Maybe it was because of Clark. Lionel paid more attention to Clark than him and Clark kept his secret too close to himself

Was cuz of Clark, lionel and the whole traveler shit as well

Lex Luthor in Smallville was a man trying to be good, swimming upstream against the current of his father's manipulations and his own darker impulses. The problem was, he hung a lot of his hope he could achieve that on that tidal moment when Clark Kent saved him after the car crash and his subsequent friendship with Clark. His image of Clark was as his opposite: open, accepting, trustworthy where Lex tended to be closed off, mistrustful, and morally ambiguous. Finding out that he'd been held outside of Clark's circle of trust throughout the entirety of what he thought was a friendship that made them as close as brothers . . . that broke Lex more than anything else did.

To be honest there's pretty often moments where Jonathan turning away his good intentions kind of pushes him back onto darkness a bit. Always fast to judge lex for his father, and by doing so slowly turns him more into his father

Whether we are shaped by our environment or by our own agency is a question we‘ve been asking since the beginning of mankind. The showwriters did an amazing job at leaving that question unanswered. It was a challenging task to write Lex as an compelling good friend at the start of the series and let the audience wonder how he will turn into the villain that we already had known since the start of the show. The same thing can be said about Lana. We all knew that Clark will end up with Lois but they managed to write a great love story that was never meant to be.

am i crazy but i kind of would keep this friendship till the absolute end might make a more better lex out of it but thats highly unlikely
