I'm going to be honest, when I saw an episode with Clark Carlisle, my first reaction was that this won't be so good as others. His humour and most of all his honesty of the demons he was facing have for me made this the best episode yet.

I thought that too. Clarke is a very complex character. Main thing is though. He comes across as a nice human being who tells a story so well with some quality humour thrown in too.

Every single word that came out of Clarke’s mouth is exactly how I’m feeling. I’m scared but hope full to be successful in my end goal. I’d love to have a face to face chat with him. 😓

I was never a big fan of Clark as a footballer, but this interview has made me realise we have been on similar mental health paths. I was very self destructive and attempted suicide. It was only after my last attempt that I was diagnoses and I am in recovery. Thanks for sharing this incredible journey and don’t forget to ask RUOK.

Always liked him especially during his punditry days. After this my opinion of him went up even more. A real gentleman, can still see the pain in his eyes. Godbless you Clarke and thank you for giving people suffering hope that there's brighter days to come 👍.

It was an absolute pleasure but also frightening at times, listening to both parts of this podcast! Fair play to Clarke for being so open and having the guts to talk about his career, experiences, thought processes, fears etc because in normal everyday life we tend to sweep the demons under the rug. In the highly competitive professional football industry, or any workplace really, normal people can neglect their own health for too long (mental, physical, emotional health) for the perceived greater good. But if there are underlying issues, ignoring them, masking them or not acknowledging they exist only prolong and exasperate it. It's easy to recognize physical issues but the mental state of well being can be hidden or remain dormant until it's too late. Find someone to talk to if you see any of the warning signs that Clarke talks about here on this podcast. Thank you Clarke Carlisle and massive respect to you. This podcast could help alot of people in the future who suffer with similar illnesses. It might be the most important thing Clarke does in his career, no disrespect to his football ability+ achievements. And finally fair play to the lads at Under the Cosh!! You'd never get this conversation on TV in its entirety. I was half expecting this 2nd part of the podcast to be behind the patreon pay wall and I wouldn't blame them. Clarke's story is known of in the football world and many would think about monetising the 'difficult' part of the conversation. Thanks to all the guys who work at the channel and make sure you get Patreon links in the descriptions of your videos, so we can support and donate. Leon Knight, Geoff Horsfield, Kevin Campbell, John Beresford all worthwhile listening to and I'm going to go through the rest. Thoroughly enjoyed your Villa Park trip last week against Newcastle too!! Keep up the excellent work and content guys!! Thanks and have a good Christmas to you all!!! Massive respect because we all are human, who make mistakes, sometimes life changing ones.

What a great guy. So honest and brave to admit where he went to and how he felt. He really seems to have reflected to the extent that he can now provide such insight. We need people like this. Keep talking Clarke, you're a great and very funny guy, and thankfully now you don't need anyone to tell you, you've realised it yourself x

Public opinion of Clarke seems to be one of dislike through his selfish actions which they were no matter how nice a lad he is, so it's good he's shown in this opportunity how opinions can be deceptive, he's a sound bloke who sadly had (maybe has) some really bad demons which you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy, so glad to see him in a positive way like he is here, I hope his message helps others in need, i'm sure if it helps just one person its an amazing achievement - Best wished for the future Clarke

Love under the cosh. I don’t watch tv so this is kinda my favourite thing to watch every week. I’m sure I speak for all fans of the show by saying the only bad thing about the show is that we don’t have a show every single day. If it was up to me all 3 of you would be locked up in a pub 10 hours a day 6 days a week being fed booze and different guests. On your day off you can do the on the road away day episode. Sounds like a plan right?

I avoided listening to this podcast, thinking Clarke Carlisle was a bit of a kee-nob. But honestly this hit home so hard, half way through drinking a bottle of vodka at 9:30am. The thinking about the way you wanna die is so true, it’s mad. You think and ‘daydream’ about it at times as if it’s the end goal. Mad respect from a Leeds fan that watched you get sent off at Coventry City away.

I watched the whole 3 hours with Clarke last night, and the suicide ideation that he talks about has dogged me for years in exactly the same way. When depression dries up you're left with your mind trying to fool you into getting into as dangerous a situation as possible in order to die. This is isn't happening to me at the moment because I'm being careful about what influences to keep around me, but you're never safe from a destructive mind like that. And I'm afraid there are a lot of media forces in this country trying to 'rub that in' as far as they can. Clarke's got a hell of a lot going on inside, a lot of which if I shut my eyes it's like listening to my own internal dialogue. For example, I caught a thought whilst watching that went, "If only I was courageous enough to walk in front of a lorry, but I'd probably need it to be doing 80mph to finish the job properly." That kind of stuff can come up when you're feeling mostly good about yourself, so it's a daily struggle with self-destruction.

great podcast, love the honesty. one thing i love about all these, is no holds barred stories about people. love that you all name and shame. makes you realise that even now, if your team loses or does something unexpected, you never really know why. could be the dumb manager or a player fight etc.

I lost a friend of mine of Christmas to suicide. He left a lot of people behind including two little girls. I haven't been able to understand why he would do such a thing, but some of Clarkes words have helped me understand a bit more. This fantastic podcast is normally my little break from the day to day with some banter and light hearted football stories. This was entirely different, but extremely poignant. Well done gents.

Ray Donovan i read he tried to jump into the road and a guy in a van died cause he was traumatised by the incident. They didn’t specify how he died I think the family wanted that to be private. But his actions caused trauma upon someone else. He didn’t at least attempt suicide by himself (that’s when I will have empathy) but he included someone else in his selfish act. If that were one of my family member his condolences would mean diddly squat.🙅🏾♂️
