I am not only late to the party I am late to a party where I am mentioned and you use my japanning recipe. I am ashamed of my tardiness and hope you can forgive me one day. Let's call the flour, vinegar, salt mixture devil's dough, because the stench is sickening and the mess just as diabolical. Your restoration is wonderful. Your given information is more and better than ever and your balance between perfection and preservation of history has museum quality. Thank you my Christiano Bronaldo ❤.

at 2:23 the inclusion of the OOPS moment and showing the handle was threaded and not pressed on is cool, the end result is awesome, im impressed that you did include the oops moment as it makes these restorations more real as it shows that we all can make errors.

I think the white stuff is dried up, old yeasts. Since coffee powder is hygroscopic, it's an excellent substrate for common yeasts to grow on. Left alone, when they finally consumed all of the coffee powder they die and dry up, leaving that white patina (which is quite common on old kitchen tools, and also usually not dangerous for human health). Great job on the restoration, and the video editing as well.

There is a deep irony in the first time I've seen you restore something and preserving it's patina in some way, that it's a grinder that would need new burrs. But what a beautiful collectors piece. Please continue this restoration - maintaining the character of the piece!
