Beautiful scenery plus a great looking locomotive.

Very interesting. I haven't been in that part of the country since a holiday at Butlins in Pwlleli in 1962. David.

Go there quite regularly now. We have Caravan outside of Bala. Fish&Chips on the Seafront lovely! A few weeks ago took the Train from Fairboune to Pwllheli. Nice ride along the coast.

It's interesting to note that the trin has to stop and activate the track circuit for the level crossing. I was concerned that as the train approached the gates had not activated. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, yes I thought it strange the barriers hadn't come down. Not seen that before were the driver has to stop and press a button to activate the barriers.

@@csxrensville5105 - I didn't notice that he pressed a button, thanks for letting me know about that. It is quite common in Australia where the driver has to push the button to change the light, or start the sequence to change lights, points, etc. I'm a fan of these elements of signalling infrastructure (being in the industry) and they are simply the modern equivalent of the signaller in the local box pulling off the home once the level crossing is positively protected. Again - a great video and thanks for sharing.

outrageous in effect the train gives way to road traffic

There was a signal box and the signal man would close the crossing. Now the train stops just before the crossing and the Driver pushes a button that activates the gates. So in a way the train does give way to the road.
