Always wanted to know about these 'stretched shunters'. I love the tough boxy look, the utterly utilitarian rigour of the design. The power plant has a bit of the growl of the class 37's (which I also liked but never knew about till KZbin!), but with an accompanying whistle, like a ghost train! Symphony on rails!

I love the little loco's I call them choppers I used to go up to tinsley tmd in Sheffield in the 80s I was about 15 me and my dad went up regularly and there was always 6 chirping away to each other it was like a new language up there in the late 1980s so many memories of 20s and 37s on coal trains! Tinsley has gone now it's a housing estate now I think sadly!!!😎

In 1980 - 81 I would get a Deltic on a Joint Line diversion to Sleaford, kip in the waiting room and get a pair of these to Skegness.

Awesome!!! Reminds me of the older ALCo diesels here in the states, with their large 1000HP, inline-6, turbocharged engine! (ALCo 539T engine)

Benjamin Esposti the design was influenced by American locomotives, but with the cab right at the end instead of inset unlike the other Pilot Scheme Type 1s or Ivatt"s 10800.

Makes me wonder if some of our elderly locos survive just because they sound great! I've been playing the game of name the location if only you'd put captions. Great video and audio though

What is the purpose/function of the maintenance train? It’s not a rail grinder, at least not like the Loram grinders we have in the USA. Weed spraying? Great video!

hi there's 2 at hope valley cement works still used 20168 and 20906 i think they're in daily use and are the only 2 still in use on freight trains in the UK! they're owned by Harry needles railway! I've seen them a few times out and about! if you want to know about freight movements use the app real time trains I'm in Ashton-under-Lyne and I see odd class 37s on test trains occasionally.

Transportation UK probably a diesel gala - don't recognised where. But the 66 looks like the one painted in the London Underground map. The 66s might not ready for museums but the 59s are., but who'd want to? The only thing good about their looks is at least they look better than the 70s - beauty might be skin deep, but ugly goes down to the bone!

@evertonmignac-D71016 ай бұрын
I'd say it's efficiency; When a design is proven to be successful, it's replicated to the masses. But besides that, I think it's just a coincidence.

Still the fair share of photographers who cannot pan their dam cameras...... follow the object of interest when filming or at least an image that helps to further the narrative.....not an empty, (just been along that bit),.. track and a fading engine sound.....maybe a good ending for 1960's European 'Art Film'....No no no... we just want the train, .....start with long telephoto squishing up the perspectives...pulling in the zoom....panning the loco, carriage etc...then the beautiful long fade into the sunset. ..greens turning to red as we watch it gently sway into that distant bend......some manage it....but too many don't.....
