Mam as you explained drawback of dalton's atomic theory... The first limitations was .. Atom is no longer smallest particle... Yet in definition we have to write our answer that "Atom is the smallest unit which cannot be divided further" May you please explain why we write wrong postulates in our answer and teachers also give marks for this wrong definition?????

What we say is that an atom is the smallest particle of a given element. An atom of iron is the smallest possible bit of iron. Yes, the iron atom has parts, but those parts aren't iron by themselves.

It wants to make bond to.complete it octet in last shell of atom. Atom with 8 electron in last shell is stable so they do chemical reaction to gain or lose electron to gain stability
