i have several doubts, Why are we not calling the monatomic molecules as compound but element? Why aren't we calling heteroatomic molecules group as element ? Does the word element only applies to the Monoatomic molecules groups alone? If the same atomic molecules form elements , how is there heteroatomic molecules exist? When mono atomic molecules combine together to form element would that be in any state (solid, gas,liquid)? For example that you stated, Ne Ne (neon) molecules of gas becomes element does that stay in gas form? Why metals like FE (iron) do not form molecules? what preventing them from forming it?

when atoms of same type join together then they are called as elements and when atoms of different types combine then they form compounds...btw the the questions you are asking are kind of basic i think you should have read the book first and listened to your teachers
