Very long ago I got stuck having to help my farther in law move from NH to Yuma AZ. It was the trip from hell, but that's another story, My flight back was not for a week so I rented a car and drove around the whole state of AZ alone with no clue where I was going. This was in Feb, so it was cool and everywhere I went the views where stunning! When I got to the edge of the Grand Canyon I said holy sh*t, the lady behind me said excuse me, I turned to her and just repeated it louder:) I'm driving across the desert with the A/C on and can see people skiing on the side of a MT. This was before GPS, and I had no map.

Caleb, you have lots of personality. It would be fun for you to take control of the camera and create an episode of your own. Use your talent to document a fun episode thru the eyes of Charlie (using a character voice as Charlie has had in the past). Make it an extra credit for one of your class studies. Your interaction with Eric (Techno RV was very entertaining). Looking forward to more fun from you all.

Great tour of the GC, guys. SUGGESTION: When freezing water (for a trip like yours), empty abt 1/2 of the water, then, tilt the bottle when you put it in the freezer. When you pack to tour, re-fill the bottle. That way, you WILL have some cold water and as the ice melts: MORE water!! Also, loved the idea of clamp-on's for the icy trails. Y'all Be Safe!

We were just at the Grand Canyon in March for (3) days (2 week Texas Spring Break) and our two daughters loved it. Weather was beautiful at that time. Walked the Ooh Ahh trail and enjoyed it. Flagstaff is way prettier than we would've ever thought. Came down Hwy 180 on our return from the canyon. Wow, just beautiful. Keep up the great work.

Wow brings back memories of my family and and another family. We stayed in Tusayan overnight at the Best Western just to see Sunset and Sunrise at Mather Point back in September 2013. We are Aussies and we had driven up from Vegas along part of the old Route 66 and just made seeing Sunset after we checked into our Hotel. Both seeing Sunset and then Sunrise the next morning is something both families and our kids will always remember. We hope one day to come back and see more of the USA. Your channel certainly gives us some ideas of places to explore.

Brings back memories of this past November/Thanksgiving weekend rendezvous with our two son's and our daughter in law of Phx (all GCU grads) joining us for 4 night 5 day trek from Tanner to Newhance. Since we had not seen our kids for months on end (approaching a year) due to Covid lockdowns/travel/ etc. we decided this trip hiking along the Colorado river via Escalante route would make 2020 far more memorable and it was. One of the tougher hikes in the GC and memories to last a lifetime.

Just a note from someone that FTs in a class A, our fuel tank is 150 gallons and we try to stay on the upper side of the half so as not to get sticker shock for filling a full tank. Also in most, your onboard generator will not run if you have less than 1/4 of a tank. :) Another great video guys. Thanks for sharing your full review on the website rather than just cutting it. Mixed feelings about the Class A, for sure. We like to tow our travel trailer at 55mph, but, at that speed, the transmission downshifts on almost every highway overpass incline. We drive at 60mph. If you have a tire blow-out, or any other incident, high speed is your enemy. The time you spent at the Grand Canyon was nice. Thanks for taking us along. Happy Camping

I am so glad you had the spikes. It’s worth having for that trail, when there is ice. Many years ago (2010) in March, my best friend, her kids, my kid and my husband, plus myself, went hiking down that trail. We were coming back up that trail, a drunk group were coming down, sliding everywhere. One of the drunk guys slid right into my friend, almost fell off the trail. But, thank goodness I grabbed her. So again smart on the spikes.

I really, really love the layout of this Class A. For me a drivers side galley is a must and the fact it's a front kitchen, which is so smart, is just the cherry on top. With a front kitchen it's just so much more convenient to run in and grab things like drinks or whatever you need to throw on the grill or bring out side dishes when it's time to eat. You also don't have people always walking through the main living space immediately after coming in if they just need a drink or snack, tracking all the dirt directly into your living room. I've never really looked at the Winnebagos but I will now thanks to y'all. Glad you're still out having fun and getting it done. Safe travels and God Bless...

That was a very good class A review. Anybody who has owned an RV for more than 20 minutes knows that everything will break in time.. Whenever I watch a review I think what happens when you press that button and the furniture doesn't move, the slide doesn't retract, the TV doesn't pop out of the cabinet? Trish hit the nail on the head when she said, "do you have the bandwidth to deal with that".

We rented a Class A once, it was awful. It convinced us we never wanted to own one. It was a consignment deal. There were repairs they should have made before renting it out. One of the things - the stairs didn’t work! The dealer offered a step ladder- are you serious? We went to Tractor Supply and bought a Horseman Three Step Mounting Block! It worked but was a pain in the bum. We needed a towed to be able to get around. It convinced us to buy our Airstream!

Thanks for the video. You showed many of the pros to have a class A. Also being able to make lunch and using the restroom while driving is a plus. But because you’re only renting it, you don’t really get a good feel for one of the downsides, which is the maintenance. We had a class A a few years ago and I felt we spent a lot of time maintaining the engine. We switched to a travel trailer because my husband didn’t want to deal with all the “motor” home maintenance.

We have a Class A diesel pusher, and honestly, I love to drive, so driving the beast is one of the highlights of the trip to me! Lots of things to remember, but having a list does making things easier indeed. The longer you drive one, the easier it gets, but the main thing is to not be in a hurry...take your time, and your memories will be endearing! Our rig has our kitchen at the half way point, so we can turn the two front seats to the rear, along with having two couches for comfort. We have the front tv 'delete' as well, prefer watching it from the couch, with it being in the same area as the rear tv in this Winnebego. Oddly, with this rental, the couch is so far back, seeing that front tv wouldn't be efficient, and if trying to watch it from the front two seats...you'd be too close? Nonetheless, we took two years to plan and decide on our wants and needs on the coach that would work for us, which we found, in all places but Pheonix!

We had a class A and tow dollied our car for two years. We did not like the class A because it takes up the whole Lane, have to be very alert. Biggest downside was how everything was so expensive to repair/replace. Tires alone will break your budget for the year. We traded in for new 32 ft Jayco class C and absolutely love it. Lot more user friendly period. Can buy tires at Walmart, drive into any Ford dealership.

I know this is older but for when you guys backpack, have you done the Mt Whitney hike, there is a short straight-up version but can be done faster, or do the 30-70 mile versions coming up through Army pass or the John Muir trails. Class A without dishes, etc beyond annoying you guys are such good sports....we have a class A full-time. Towing a vehicle is a must for us. It does mean freedom. We shadowed son from Maine to Georgia as his support as a thruhiker on Appalachian Trail in 2019. Class A let us accommodate his Trail Family "Tramily" of 6 to 8 people for overnight occasional trail magic...for sleeping and meals and our pull along jeep let us see all the awesome towns and parks big and small along the AT while ferrying hikers to and from the trail on zero days. Class A and jeep give us the best of both worlds for that trip of a lifetime and all the trips that followed.

A few years back we rented an A-class RV. It was great, except for the fuel costs. Somehow when filling the gas tank, the needle doesn’t move, but all of a sudden, it’s on full. We also picked it up with a half full tank. We were also told to return it with the same a mount of fuel, but we all know that’s not going to work. A friend of mine worked for a place like that once. He said they do that on purpose, fills up everyone car for free, sneaky, very sneaky. Lol.

Glad you tried this. I did not expect you to run out and buy because it fits your lifestyle less than other configs. I really prefer the 42QD layout to the GD. The window is the best and driving is heavenly. Not sure if you had a recliner on the passenger seat or the heat and massage option. I really enjoy that on mine for longer days (not the recline...LOL). Biggest challenges for us so far are the wheelbase and rear clearance on any incline and propensity for these to get stuck in soft sites. In true KYD fashion, you were open, honest and find the best of everything! Wish you had a few more episodes in this one.

A couple of thoughts. In your last video you lamented not having your truck to get around as your used to when your out in your Airstream. If you were always traveling in a class A like we are, you would have a tow car of some sort, so that issue is solved. Next, I agree with you. I don't like the floor plan of this DP with the kitchen in the front for the reasons you mentioned. Our driver and passenger seats turn around and become part of the living room area when we are parked. That works much better. Lastly, it's good to know the specs on the fuel tank, DEF tank, fresh water and holding tanks so you have an idea of your needs. If the rig were yours, I'm sure you'd know this. Take care and have fun.

After 48 years of driving Coaches and semi's, I didn't worry much about front tire blowouts, like Big RV. Also, did I tell you I drove 11 years for the original Sunvalley Grayline Tours? Logged 351 tours to the Canyon? Been everywhere in Arizona.-Scorpio

About to close on the sale of my house. I'll soon be driving a 44 footer with a 24' enclosed trailer. I had a CDL for 20 years, so I do have some experience driving large vehicles. Looking forward to this new chapter. Oh, and I have 2 cats.

Like I knew what would be in the script when you guys pulled into Love's..."Should we hit the scales?" , I burst laughing out loud! And, Trish's response was the winner! LOL! Thanks for the entertainment! I could see you up and coming "Empty Nesters" moving to a Class A, as they offer a lot of the "Work-camping" aspects that would be better suited for your needs. Will stay tuned for the Class C episode, and look forward to your thoughts on those aspects as well! Happy Travels, Stay Safe, and God Bless!

We live in south central PA and get a bit of snow and ice. We use Yaktrax a lot. They are a must have when there is any ice. So glad you guys have your micro cleats. I like seeing the Class A and seeing the Grand Canyon is awesome. We own a 23 foot travel trailer. My husband got an upgrade to the fuel tank on our Toyota Tundra, it holds 44 gallons. So nice. Waiting for my Summer to Remember T shirt and off to download a poster. Thanks.
