can't thank you enough mate! your lectures are really helpful and fun to watch! Im used to Alias automotive but this parametric approach is really usefull. Best NX Channel by far!

Steve, always appreciate the emphasis on parametrics. I'm constantly pushing this to my designers because the reality of design, is that things can and will change. If everything you do breaks then you're constantly in a long chain of feature rebuilds. If that weren't the case, we'd all ditch the parametric modelers for one of the snazzy 'sculpting' packages. :)

Nailed it. I have several design methods I use that make parametric methods of design very user friendly as well as engineering and manufacturing centric. Thanks for the comment my good man.

The only time I've ever used section surface has been when I've needed to make a long cylinder that has multiple radius/diameter along the center spline. This looks like a pretty good application of easy to control inputs.

Wow! Circular section surface is almost like the crown on a skin in Alias! Super nice (although having to select a spine drives me crazy).

Thanks for these nice explanations. You should teach online classes with NX, you re a natural.

Going to a prospective NX client tomorrow who is interested in advanced surfacing. As a FEA jockey, I can't thank you enough. Will be sure to give you credit.

Hi! I really enjoy your videos, can't wait for the next one. A question that popped up in my mind: Is there a good reason to create curves on the surfaces by intersecting your circular section surface to the other surfaces, instead of e.g. offsetting curves on the surface from your combined curve directly? (hope you understood my question) Thanks again for this channel!

Great question. The pipe (tube) is an older way of doing business. It used to be much easier to make the pipe and intersect. The pipe was also a good way to analyze the shape as well. Once you make the pipe verifying the shape becomes pretty easy. Also, I need to check this in NX, I do believe it provides a simpler curve as well. I know in other CAD systems it gives a mathematically simpler curve. Maybe time for another video. All the best

very very powerful tools. I wish catia have rebuild surface option in sweep tools like NX. with this option surface is very simple math.
