"...we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Black American culture..." It's always great to hear this acknowledged. Thanks, Pete.

The beauty of language and words is that we must individually imbue our own meaning into what we hear or read. I want " We're Going Wrong" to have a deeper meaning and it does for me.

I remember getting my hands on this album right around my 13th birthday in 75. We had moved into a new house that summer and the family who had previously owned the home had an 18 year old son who left a stack of albums and Disraeli Gears was one of them. To this day I can't figure out why he left it and a bunch of other great albums behind (Hendrix, Doors, Stones etc.)

Lots of times, the sons in particular, had a falling out with one or the other parent, sometimes both. Entirely probable that there had been internal family issues, leading to things being left behind, or perhaps, the son lived in a different city by then. As a guitar store owner for 40+ years, on rare occasions, I would end up with older guitars, amps, or both because of the reasons that I just mentioned. The age of the albums could also be indicative of the son having been killed in Vietnam..... I also ended up with a guitar & amp for that reason at my store...

Jack denouncing the war against Vietnam was very courageous; almost no one dared to in those days, in the music industry. Cream were i.f. one of the very very rare (along with Lennon and Zappa if I mistake not). Bless you, lads.

I take your point, however White Room was originally intended for release on Disraeli Gears-the same album as TBU -because White Room was the more 'successful' recording and more widely known I suppose it is more prominent-similar chord progression on the verse pattern; but quite different feel eh?

Cream did an incredible rendition of this song @ the 3 10 1968 Winterland gig that also produced several songs from Wheels Live Cream V 1 and 2

There was, by and large, a minority of mostly young people that were not deprived of sanity, morals and common sense. But I'm talking music bizz here, as you can read. For public American figures (and their killing allies; Brits mostly) it took genuine courage in those days, viz. the fate of a Muhammad Ali (even), to speak out against it.

Captain blue bear 08 - I stopped taking "childish dares" back in the 60's when I was 13 ...find your own list of anti-war songs , ever heard of Dave Van Ronk? Country Joe McDonald? Neil Young? Pete Seeger? Bob Dylan? Eric Burdon? Tom Paxton? Phil Ochs? ... gee I guess your right it took a lot of courage to get paid tons of money to write anti war songs, for corporate media studios - these guys did it for courage not fat wallets... Posh-

And I dare you to come up with more than, say, 6 or 7 songs that expressly dealt with the carnage made in USA. I give away one that you surely don't know: 'Welterusten, Meneer de President' (1966) by dylanesk Dutch troubadour Boudewijn de Groot.
