funny thing, from :30 to 1:00 pete pretty much summed up myspace, facebook, twitter and yes, even youtube

Pete’s concept is basically what Matrix, Strange Days, Surrogates and Ready Player One explore. Definitely ahead of its time.

Well Pete you effectively predicted the future in a minute describing Life House
@OlafProt2 жыл бұрын
PT was so prescient. He knew what was coming, without knowing. Watching him bring Lifehouse to fruition in 2000 was wonderful. I remember the PT and Eelpie websites being such exciting places to be back then (1999-2000). Actual interactive contact with Pete, new product, and all this before the internet was anything to the masses. Bowie and Townshend realised its potential SO early.

Through the 4 years from Tommy to Quadrophenia The Who were fuckin awesome,live they were the best by a fuckin mile,Townsend's writing and guitar ,Entwistle's drop dead bass playing,Moon's best Keith Moon style drumming and Daltrey's brilliant voice made them special but i didn't see them live till 81 so i never saw the original line up, it was still the best gig ever, then last year i saw Quadrophenia at last given the show it deserves,it was just perfect as i think it's the best thing Townsend has written and i think he know's it too.But having said all that "won't get fooled again" may be the best 9mins in rock history but having said that again perhaps "a quick one" on the rock n roll circus is better,FUCK IT! they are THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER. PEACE OUT:)

A Quick One, oh my what a beautiful piece Pete made. Then throw Sparks in between, and it's just unimaginable.

Excellent observation and Pete has commented on this fact that he predicted the coming of the internet.

The fact that Pure and Easy didn't make the final cut shows just how strong the songs were. I mean Pure and Easy an outtake? WTF, yeah rarified air.

My former brother-in-law went to a couple of the Young Vic gigs and he said it just seemed like a rehearsal as the band would play a few numbers, stand around talking, play some more, go off-stage, come back, do three versions of the same song and then stand around talking again.

Just watch the first 60 seconds. Kinda prescient, innit? Bear in mind, he had this concept in 1971. And here we are. Huh...

Quadrophenia is EASILY the best album by the Who.

maybe .. but also "live and leeds" is a big contender..

I always go back and forth with Who's Next and Quadrophenia. There was plenty of material to make Who's Next a double album, some think that's bad because music is missing, some say it's a good thing, because only the best made it on to record. Me, I love both of those albums, they've both stood the test of time very well. There really is no wrong answer. BTW, the new Who album WHO is really strong, it's here on youtube for you to discover if you haven't already.

I hear the two bandied back and forth.. I'm on the Quadrophenia side but if someone says "Who's Next" I say, "yep" and if they say "Quadrophenia" I say "yep"

The music industry doesn't care for intelligently written music. The simpler the music with a basic heavy droning beat keeps 'em hypnotized and in control

Isn't Lifehouse about the band and the audience merging into one entity through the power of music? And if you hit that ONE note, hey, fucking Nirvana!

How the fuck was Pure & Easy NOT on Whos Next, a bloody mystery?
@carlweaver32433 жыл бұрын
When you think about it, Lifehouse was about this ONE Note that affects or transforms people, or at least that's my take on it. And Pure and Easy was the start of that. So, yeah, it should've led off the album. That way, The Song Is Over could've ended Who's Next properly with the Pure and Easy reprise, bringing the album full circle.

today's young rock bands in their 20's and early 30's as The Who were around this time, are a corporate mechanism that's unfortunately unstoppable, but also, unimaginative, bland, generic, with no creativity, artistry, and not memorable in the least ...who at this day and age can write an album or albums like this ? absolutely fucking no one., that's who....
