Nice mod! Amazingly similar. I first heard a CR-78 on a trip to New Orleans in the late 70s. I was so impressed with the bass sound, I finally bought one. I sold it to a friend of mine who still has it. I love the gurgley percussion sounds. Did you use a Teensy for the MIDI mod? If so, did you have to buffer the digital trigger outs?

I think when you compare them like this, especially listening to rhe BD and Snare, you can hear the MP7 belongs to the « old rhythm box » period and on the CR78 you can already hear rhe TR-808. Regarding mIdi I simply installed the ready available kits as described in the video text.
