This may be the best blues guitar lesson anywhere.Jimmy Reed’s rudimentary style is the foundation of so much music that followed him. Thank you so much for all your great lessons over the years. I’ve learned tons about Blues Guitar from you and that has made my life infinitely better. Maybe that sounds corny but I’m sure a lot of other people feel the same way. Thanks.

What's important to me is getting the pace of any JR song right

Awesome lesson and teaching style. It's perfectly paced for the intermediate/advanced student. Very clear and concise verbal instruction--not too much, not abstract. Thanks and keep 'em coming.

Thanks! I'm not 100% sure on any of this stuff - I'm trying to figure it out too - the Jimmy Reed records are full of tasteful licks and turnarounds - very underrated stuff.

I've never seen TAB books for Jimmy Reed - like they have for some artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, etc.,. My experience with the TABS created by "professionals" is that they are accurate to a point - but sometime ignore subtle things that you can hear on the recordings. I prefer to listen to the old stuff myself. In many cases, note-for-note translations are tough because so much of the background guitar stuff is almost impossible to hear all the way through the song. My advice is to listen to it yourself - using what I have laid down here as a guide to the basic ideas that guide the guitar playing. I wish I had the time to write out TABS for all my lessons, but right now, that's impossible for me to do - due to other responsibilities. Let me know if you have any particular questions about any Jimmy Reed songs - perhaps I can help you out in that way and even create a TAB for a certain run or section in a song.

It's an Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II - got it for $350 or so on E-Bay. It plays wonderfully, but I need to adjust the pickups to get a better tone out of my low E string - keep forgetting to do that. Thanks!

I heard about Jimmy Reed through loving Neil Young and I though Reed was WHITE! That name is familiar in my land of Scotland! But then I heard the guy... oh Jesus! Jimmy Reed is unique. A funky guy! Rock on my friends...
