One of my most memorable meals was fish and chips from a vendor in Southampton in '87. Also my Great grandmother 's Sunday roast with potatoes and greens. Same trip.

When we visited my great-uncle, Thursdays he would bring home the best fish & chips I've ever had, wrapped in newsprint. The plaice was so delicate and sweet, like the memories.

The crispy batter bits with fish & chips are one of my favorite treats. I started loving these things when my parents discovered Long John Silvers back when they first started and we ate there on a vacation trip to Florida. Later on when they opened in Indiana, we would go there and I'd ask for a side of crumbs , dousing them in malt vinegar. LJS sucks but every once in a while I'll break out the fryer and do fish but instead of potatoes I like hush puppies, fish, shrimp and crumbs with slaw 😋

I never considered using a yeasted batter for fried fish, going to have to try it! Banoffee pie is so, so good - make your whipped cream coffee flavored to take it to the next level

I can't really understand a lot of what you said because google translate isn't working; but i got the vibe of what you said, and fully agree Dulce de leche is awesome in so many ways; and it really is the same basic thing at its most simplistic

@@SylviaRustyFae I said In Argentina its called dulce de leche, but Chile calls the same thing manjar not to be confussed with the verb manjar = to drive

British food is not bad. It's just not as flavorful as others

Tho tbf, thats up to ones personal choices. A lot of this stuff is bland as a default, but theres plenty of spices and herbs they went all around the world colonisin for to give the option of to their citizenry; which even extended to us USAians Theres plenty of Brits out there who actually do amp up their own food with a little bit of tasty herbs and spices

Beans and tomato are not for breakfast!
@SylviaRustyFae
@SylviaRustyFae 4 ай бұрын
@@___beyondhorizon4664 No. Food can be eat at any time. French Toast used to be a lunchtime or even dinner time thing. Ham used to be exclusively eaten for dinner or feast meals. Plenty of foods can be eaten at plenty of times Beans and tomatoes can be good durin brkfast, in any number of preparations. Personally im immediately thinkin of a garbanzo bean dip with tomato added to it (tomato flavoured hummus); which wud be grt for some savoury sweet pancakes

Here’s how to make classic British Fish and Chips, first let’s use the wrong potatoes, then let’s not peel them and cut them up all wrong, then add egg to the batter….

Did you miss the part where she said she was making her version??

First off, on the chips part; does it rly effin matter? Its a frackin potato; theres not rly that big a diff when fried up well, and russet happens to be a type that is usually easiest to find for a USA audience... Which is what this show was made for On the fish, back to what the other commenter said; this is April Bloomfield's version. And personally, i think the batter is better with egg in it And back to the chips, she literally says why she cuts them bigger snd leaves the skin on; if youd listen to her youd know that she wants them more rustic and she wants them to withstand multiple fryings. Both of those things are things you can choose to do or not to do; and she just told you what diff it mayve, if youd only listen

@@SylviaRustyFae Sorry Silvia, I wrongly expected a clip that reads, “Classic” and “Iconic”, to perhaps show a classic or iconic recipe. Chips ain’t French fries so why show Americans how to make French fries?

Or fry it in lard or beef tallow. My folks had two chippies when I was a kid, in the days when everything was cooked in beef dripping
