Love the vid! I can relate so much. Bought the E31 as it was on my dreamlist when I was 21yrs old. And after 8yrs I realized that this car is so connected with my life ups-and-downs so it's something special to be able to get in.

Thank you for this great insight, I am 34 and was not driving here in the uk when these were seen on the road, let alone able to afford one. It is my dream car, as an avid BMW fan, I one day hope to own one and will be absolutely over the moon to find an example as good as either of these too. Great work man 👍🏼

Another spectacular video Cartiologyfilms !!! You truly raise the bar with a film that is entertaining, educational, unscripted, and real. Watch this video, and tell me you don’t want to run out and drive a E31 BMW and see for yourself. As a passionate auto enthusiast myself, it’s refreshing to see that the iconic cars we love will continue to be enjoyed and valued by the next generation. 👍

I had a m1 toy as a child,so e31 is very nice car to me.But that v12 is very hard to maintain.... You need to find Lotus Omega/Carlton,another hero of the time! Keep on good work!

Nenad Trajković thank you. Actually V12s are not that much harder to upkeep. I’ve learned over the years how to manage them. They’re great fun.

@@ClassicCarCustodians . Exactly, bmw engines are pretty much bulletproof and are almost never the issue with any bmw car. I would say 90% of it is electronics 7% suspension and 3% engine work

I want one as my first car. Since many of them here in the states are usually very well maintained, I'm thinking of just getting one. What is the average maintenance cost on these?
@ClassicCarCustodians4 жыл бұрын
Average cost could be anywhere between a few hundred and a few thousand depending on the condition and amount of usage.
@joelstatosky18174 жыл бұрын
@@ClassicCarCustodians . So long as I buy something well maintained there shouldn't be much to worry about. I expect it to have the main issues that a car of simmilar vintage would have. I will do some more research and then buy one

I thought about posting here about my 2 850's, but it's prolly a waste of time on the millennial audience. Just one word for you people. Sure you can buy these cheap, but I paid $45K for my CSi when it was about 8 years old and doubled my investment making it sufficiently driveable and factory new condition [not talking mini or anything just M5-ish] but you can never overcome the sheer weight of the car even if you get the 425hp I got out of mine. Car was not tricked out - only factory appearance. Rock solid at a buck fifty in any turn. Bottom line for the millennial; even if you are willing to spend the money required for this, you must become educated on the type and many parts are already no longer available. I got the last dark headliner and the last euro light bars. I don't even think pop-up repair kits are avail from anyone any more. To do justice, it's more suited to tinkerers with tools and an extra $50K to toss around beyond all the normal costs. If you do though, it is rewarding if you understand and appreciate the car. Go to roadfly and our E31 club.
@johnsurs225 жыл бұрын
To be fair though, an 850CSi is basically an M car, and additional cost goes hand in hand with that. I've frequented the E31 forums for maintenance questions for more than a decade, and generally they don't seem to have unusually high running costs, especially for a car from the 90s.
@kingprone78465 жыл бұрын
@@johnsurs22 the 840 has the same issues though.
@johnsurs225 жыл бұрын
@@kingprone7846 I've not heard of even the most meticulous owners spending $50K for maintenance on an 840. Maybe a few thousand over several years is more typical
@johnsurs225 жыл бұрын
@@kingprone7846 I guess OP was going for a much higher standard, so most of that expense is for performance improvements. But people that just want a good driver don't have to spend so much.
