Hi Andreas, glad to hear you’re buying one, they are lovely cars, very charismatic. It’s amazing what you can do when a deadline is fast approaching. I was working full time but on shifts so had a fair amount of time between shifts to do the work. Just burnt the midnight oil especially as the deadline approached. Also this was not a ground up restoration but more making a rough but basically sound car look really nice. Haha if you had seen the car a week before the wedding you would doubt making the deadline (as few family did) Of course I was never in doubt! 😁

Dear Chris, my 1950 Riley RMA is a left hand car since I want to live to talk about driving here in Germany. I have a question regarding the bin liner or plastic trash bags as we call them where I grew up. I am wondering whether they stay under the vinyl or whether they get pulled out once the vinyl is positioned over the burlap material??

Hi Andreas, the bin liners stay in place, they help, allowing the roofing material to stretch and slide across the roof as it is pulled into place. They certainly helped me as I installed the new roof material, especially as it was March and cold so the material wasn’t too pliable. I had a space heater directed into the car and a heat gun warming each part of the material as I stretched it into place. ideally this is a task that should be carried out outside on a warm sunny day. Can’t remember exactly where I picked up the tip, it may have been the RM club forum. But it definitely helped facilitate me completing the job.
