A question from across the pond: why did US cars of the '50s -'70s do that little lurch forward when they stopped? UK cars didn't do that. Is it to do with US cars' softer suspension? 🤔 Also, at 8 mins 29 the Mercedes is a 600.

Soft suspension for a smooth ride. Muscle cars and the Corvette have stiffer suspension.

Outside of the 50's and 50's era cars having the handling of a wet sponge they also had automatic transmissions and when put into park mode would cause this slight lurch forward. This effect is exacerbated by the very soft and spongy suspension. UK cars had manual transmissions and a much stiffer undercarriage.
