It wasn't designed to replace the Corvair...the Corvair was selling great. The Chevy2 was for going against the Falcon of Ford.

Correct, it wasn’t designed to replace the Corvair (the Corvair lasted until 1969) but it was designed to be an alternate, more conventional compact car.

Sweet car. Owned a '62, 3sp/6 cyl and a '64 SS 284/4 sp car. Someone had dropped a 327/300 hp engine in the '64. Loved both cars

I like Novas but the 1st generation 1962-1965 to me are the best looking compact cars GM ever made they were light at 2700 pounds and with a small block V8 engine it became a performance car the second generation shared the same underpinning as the 1st generation Camaros did the 1st and 2nd generation Novas and the 1st generation Camaros are very very desirable cars today because of the classic lines that seem to never go out of style

Correction: it was the 3rd generation Nova (1968-74) that was the shared platform for the 1st generation Camaro. The 2nd generation Nova (1966-67) had the almost identical chassis of the 1st generation Nova just with a completely new body and interior.

The auctioneer claims this car is "Protect-O-Plate documented". Chevrolet didn't start using the Protect-O-Plate until 1965 so the statement cannot be accurate. It's a very nice car though and appears to be a true SS.
