Matt P No worries ask away. It's formal name is a scribe tool. Some people also referred to it as a boo-boo stick. You can find them on Amazon or any craft store that carries baking products. Hope this helps!

Cute cookies :-) where are the cutters from? Also, assume the facial features were drawn on with edible pen; did you use a Pico? Thanks
@TheCoolCookieKitchen6 жыл бұрын
The Grinch and Frosty are hand cut. Rudolph is a cutter made by Wilton. I did original draw my facial features on with a food colouring maker for a guide. Normally I would just use the projector and pipe right on - but that doesn't work well on camera. The projector I use is a Artograph Prism™. I also have the arm to hold it over my cookie. It's quite the investment though. A Pico should work just as well. Thanks for your comment and question. Hope these answers help.

Do you have a template you could share with us for the Grinch and Frosty cookies? (maybe a link to where you found it?) Thanks. All your character cookies are simply adorable. :)

Hey Kimberly, I don't have a template and I didn't think of saving the link from the pictures I used. If you Google "Santa Grinch Cartoon" and "Frosty Cartoon" you'll likely find an image you'd be happy to work with. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Sense it's not that big of a cookie or large service, there's no need for these extra huge bottles for filling? Seems unnecessary. Why not just used the same one you used to outline?
@TheCoolCookieKitchen6 жыл бұрын
Hello again, I completely agree; the cookie is not very large and I don’t need to use an extra-large bottle. While taping I am normally decorating lots of different cookies for different videos all at the same time. When my small bottles get full from other colours I am forced to use the larger bottles. Though not needed, it serves the same purpose and gets me the same affect. You can use whatever size bottles you are comfortable with. There are many different ways to apply flooding icing and outlining that can be used. While learning how to decorate cookies I was always more comfortable with a piping bag. I’ve only brought flooding bottles into my decorating routine within the last 5-6 years. So, when it comes to outlining it’s just my preference. I also like to outline with icing that is a bit thicker than my flooding icing to ensure the icing doesn’t flow over the side of the cookie; which is why I put it in a piping bag. When you only have one cookie and one chance to get the shot right, it’s time consuming and frustrating to deal with overflow. This type of outline is just a way to ensure I don’t have to address that issue. Thanks so much for your comment, input and watching!

Love it, just wish it showed when you trace the Grinch's face on the cookie. :(
@TheCoolCookieKitchen3 жыл бұрын
I didn't trace it. I have a projector that shows the image on the cookie and then use the food colouring marker to draw it on. It wasn't until later in my series that I actually showed me using my projector because I didn't think it was that exciting. I do, however, have a video where I show different ways of transferring an image onto a cookie without a projector. It's actually the featured video on my page right now.

Hello, the Rudolph cutter is a Wilton product. The other two I hand cut using some images I found on Google. I searched black and white Santa Grinch to get a colouring book image. I printed and cut out the image. I laid it on the rolled out dough and cut around it with a sharp knife. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

The Rudolph the red nose reindeer is a Wilton cookie cutter. I hand cut the cookie for the Grinch and Frosty the snowman although since posting this video I've seen a lot of cookie cutters of that Grinch head show up. ;)

It looks like you outline and fill in with one consistency icing, then go back over it with flood consistency icing on the smaller areas such as the horns on Rudolph... is that correct?
@TheCoolCookieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Pat! Yes you are correct. I do this because smaller areas can crater easier. I add some soft piping consistency icing to give it a thicker base in hopes of avoiding indents. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Continued, Thinking about changing my name to Gabby so people know what to expect, haha! I am not a professional Cookie decorator, well at least not yet but I have enjoyed your videos very much so far. I don’t know how long you have been on You Tube but I have noticed that other people have asked the same question that I have had and that is about Templates and designs. You have great ideas but don’t offer them to us, just go to google-the grinch. That doesn’t really tell us much. So it would be nice if you could have templates and the designs ready for the public to use in the sources area otherwise it is just like we are watching a movie not knowing how to get the info which is the point of this Channel. I don’t mean to sound harsh, I think you are quite talented and you have such a sweet and wonderful personality so please please don’t think I am trying to come down hard on you personally, I watch lots of these shows and they usually have the templates available as they say, down below in the info section or they will say where to get any tools or supplies used. Good luck to you and I wish you the best with your videos and your You Tube Career or whatever you wish for your future. Graciously, I hope that I was able to give you a helpful suggestion from one beginner to an Advanced Decorator, Cheers and Best Regards, Irish Jilli

HI Jill, Thank you for your advice. I understand what you mean about offering templates. In these cases I did Google search images and use them as templates. I tried to find the exact ones I used but Google updates so often that I couldn't find the exact link anymore. I also don't own the licensed image to offer as my own in a template - so there are legal issues to consider. I am only 5 months into KZbin and am learning as I go. I do plan on added more details as to where I've found supplies. In the mean time I answer every comment made under my videos and am happy to answer any questions my viewers may have. Thank you for taking the time to make your comment and for watching.

Cute cookie however you never showed how to outline anything? The weird bottle you use to flood is non existent and your video is too fast.
@TheCoolCookieKitchen6 жыл бұрын
Hello, Thank you for your comment and input. It is true, cookie decorators have many different styles and some do not outline before they flood. If I am making cookies for family/friends I normally don’t outline before flooding either. I do so in my videos because many are using the videos to learn; and when you first start out, outlining can extremely reduce the issue of having icing flow over the edge of the cookie. There are many types of icing flooding bottles that can be used - as long as they hold the icing and let you adjust your tips, you have the most important elements covered. If you would like some links to the specific bottles I have, let me know and I’d be happy to find them for you. In regards to the speed of the videos, I fast forward through certain elements to ensure the video doesn’t run for an lengthy amount of time. Without fast forwarding, this video would run over 30 minutes and most viewers wouldn’t hang around that long. If there is a certain technique you would like to see done at a regular pace, let me know and I will do my best to create a video to highlight that technique. Hope this addresses your concerns. Thanks so much for watching!
