I always enjoy the war games whenever I revisit it on dvd, thank goodness it all survives with no missing episodes

Great review. War games Is really good. Ending is poignant as the end of Troughton’s time as the Doctor, plus the last story for Zoe and Jamie. It’s quite long but I spread it out last time I watched it.

Since the 60th anniversary I bit the bullet and decided to do a dr who marathon of the classic series. 1 episode a day. There are several stories I was not looking forward to, remembering them as plot not sustaining 6 episodes or a bit childish. But to my surprise watching the show this way is an eye opener, especially the war games, I was finding myself looking forward to the next episode with excitment instead of watching several eps in an evening and having dr who overdose, yes its 10 eps but it slowly builds to a great ending. And so much of the mythos of the show was created in this story. Great review though.

Really enjoying these classic Doctor Who reviews, thank you. The War Games is definitely one of my favourites. A suggestion for a possible future review would be Inferno.

@@CardiffOneOne Thank you 🙂. I love watching the absolute conviction of the actors in the Pertwee and Tom Baker era.

Might need to revisit this one myself, as like many fans I’d put it down as nine episodes of filler with all the important stuff in the tenth. To think that a 10 episode story is now even longer than a modern series (at least in terms of weeks) and the only modern equivalent is 2021’s Flux; itself a necessary evil due to the pandemic.
