...And only now this man's getting recognised for his acting talents? The UK should be ashamed of itself... I've said it since way back then how fantastic of an Actor Mr McFadden is.. one of the best (IMHO) from this country. Everyone was to busy praising Kemp at the time to see it. Glad he's getting his long overdue respect now. Classic clip by the way buddy.. thanks for sharing, remember this like yesterday. Golden era.

@@clairelally3644 Very true, he treated Lisa the same way Grant did Tiffany. However, Phil did genuinely love Kathy. It was when he became an alcoholic, that he started mistreating her, and bullying her. And then when he became clean and sober, he felt bad and tried to reconcile with Kathy. But by then, it was too late, the light had gone out and their marriage was ruined.

@@DeepScreenAnalysis grant will always be one of my favourite characters. But it when it came to Tiffany's death, I hated him. What precipitated Phil's drinking in this scene?
@clairelally36445 жыл бұрын
I think he was feeling guilty because he accidentally killed a transient when he set fire to the car lot so Frank could claim the insurance money.
@accountuser55885 жыл бұрын
Claire Lally Apparently his father Eric Mitchell was an alcoholic and he just inherited that trait.
@paulyb72675 жыл бұрын
@@accountuser5588 Phil wasn't born that way, it's how he was brought up. Eric was a violent alcohol who regularly beat up Peggy and Phil (and to a lesser extent Grant). Because Phil was absent from 8 years (1998-2006) of Ben's life and Ben ended up calling someone else (Gavin) his dad as result, it's highly unlikely that Ben will become an alcohol.
@accountuser55885 жыл бұрын
Pauly B But it has been mentioned so many times by Peggy imparticular that Phil is just like his father. I know his Dad used to abuse him but abuse or not, Phil always had the tendancy to drink just like his Dad did.
@paulyb72675 жыл бұрын
@@accountuser5588 The Mitchell family have a cycle of domestic abuse passed down from generation to generation: -Grandpa Phil was an alcoholic who beated up his wife and his 3 sons (Eric, Archie, and Clive) who in turn ended up abusing their own wives and children - Eric was also an alcoholic who physically abused Peggy and Phil (and Grant to a lesser extent) on a regular basis, while Archie did the same thing psychologically to Glenda and Ronnie (including rape). -Billy was left in a care home, where he was physically abused by the staff, and as a result, he abused Jamie Mitchell for many years. -Phil (an alcoholic) and Grant copied their father's behaviour and ended up hitting their wives (Sharon, Kathy, Lisa, Tiffany). There is a chance that the Mitchell cycle of abuse may end because some Mitchell father's never got the chance to do the same things their sons due to the mother escaping the abusive father/husbands whilst taking their babies with them (Glenda took Danny away from Archie, Kathy took Ben away from Phil, and Michelle took Mark Jnr away from Grant).
