On Sat 28/06/14, B75 hauled its first train in close to 20 years.
Having been withdrawn from government service, and then being sold and resold over the years, it was finally brought back to life by Southern Shorthaul Railroad at their Nth Bendigo workshops, and painted in CRL ( Consolidated Rail Leasing ) livery.
After a couple of light engine tests on the Thursday & Friday to Rochester, and Echuca with ex El Zorro unit T386, now wearing SSR colours, the pair ran a trip to Echuca taking a fleet of CRL wagons along. The pair are seen in various locations on both the up and down journey, on a COLD and wet day.

That's a lot of work and restoration time there. It's so clean. You can't hide the dents. Does old cars have lots of dancing and from being worked over the years. Shiny paint just brings it out. But is good looking

This type engine was perfect for it's intended purpose and need. For profitability, why not keep these engines, well painted, and maintained. Will last forever. Will never loose it's style

That was VERY nice of the driver to stop and let you get those good shots at about 5:00 minutes to the video. US drivers don't do that...but they WILL give you the finger as they go by.

in the U.S. they consider railfans domestic terrorists and call the cops on you-never knew a camera was a lethal weapon!! an the scanner is the trigger to stop the train.......its a complete shame!!

I read that in the early ‘50s GM weren’t convinced why anyone would want a double ended locomotive and the VR CME went to Detroit to discuss it in person.

Nice video. While viewing I couldnt help but think that if you were to model this consist and show it at a model train show, the bolt counters would say that it wasnt real. "No loco in Victoria is that clean, bright and colourful" would be some of the comments.

The thing about the private operators is they don't let their rolling stock stay still for long enough for the graffiti vandals to get to them, except maybe PN. If it ain't moving, it aint making money.

+emd645e3c AFAIK the B75 like the other B-Types are all CLYDE ML2 (EMD AAA16C) and therefore in no way difficult to find. In fact, they exist all over the world, variants of this Clyde-originated adaption of the EMD F-type can be found in Scandinavia, Hungary, Pakistan and - Australia naturally...... ;)

@@jimcrawford5039 at the moment the Bendigo area is stil single guage, ie Broad guage, and I am not sure if there's a move afoot to go to standard just yet, they are still finishing the Murray Basin Rail Project.

@@bushranger51 There are two tracks to Echuca, one via Bendigo and the reinstated line from Toolamba on the Shepp line. Presumably they don’t want to convert both yet. They only recently too delivery of SG Velocities for the North East line.
