I’ve been cooking similar strategies in 7-Point Highlander recently, and have been extremely consistently blown away by Phlage in these sorts of grindy, answer-forward Jeskai decks

Phlage is insane in 7pt, and massively underexplored. Like she's honestly at the 2 point power level and skating under the radar due to play rate mainly. I think the big difference for her in legacy is that you can't be this basic island heavy and also be consistently escaping her, and building a more nonbasic manabase both opens you up to wasteland and removes moon, which is the only way to avoid get dumpstered by eldrazi. Her damage also just lines up kind of awkwardly against the legacy meta at the moment, like there's just not that much she can kill atm. Still, she's very powerful, and someone's gonna find a shell at some point for sure

@@nickthejack the best shell is prolly some boros taxes shell, but the problem is the only reason dnt plays red is for moons. Also just, generally, damage isn't a good form of removal in legacy right now. All the threats are large.

Commenting during the deck tech, so we'll see if the play proves me wrong or if you have the same opinion @BoshNRoll - I'm pretty suspicious of Batterskull. Obviously its a long-time staple option for stoneblade, but i just feel like its not really worth the slot anymore. Its sort of your 'fair', grindy choice, but it doesn't out-fair a Saga or Frog or anything that gets reanimated, even just Troll of Khazad-dum. And when you do need to grind, Cryptic Coat makes more bodies while also having the backup mode of pitching to Force and being much easier to repeatedly cast than Bskull. Im just not expecting batterskull to win a race that you wouldnt win Kaldra anymore

Before seeing the games I like this list SOOO much more than the last jeskai control list that was on channel, my only pre games take is i wish there was at least 1 verdict somewhere in the 75. Let see these games After games before wrap up I like back to basics being in the 75... but i think its more of a sb plan in the current meta While some bad beats vs frog decks happened I do think the older pre duskmorn frog decks are handled.. BUT the fanatic miracle idiot i think is an issue... REALLY made me wish you had the x for one supreme verdict to clear the board Galvanic was useful at time but not always i think 2 copies is fine... but i really feel like an extra 'cheap exile' could compete. Maybe solitude as a 1 of? Less bad vs the big black idiots of frog decks Watching wrap up, i agree 100% on the 3 main deck cuts. Force of negation, back to basics and 2nd forth. I Agree on 3rd prismatic, not sure on main deck pyro but i think its a reasonable tack.

I think the fundamental issue of designing Tamiyo around Brainstorm is that you make her almost unflippable without it. Three without brainstorm is already an ask, 4th card is still flippable on your own turn with Brainstorm and is going to be very hard to do in Modern (and 5 or more would obviously be useless)

There’s no time to do that. LED is a mana ability that I can’t respond to, unless opp does something else in between the discard and casting echo, it’s never in the graveyard when you could exile it.
