I agree with you about hanging in the middle in Mario Kart online. On the WII, I just used to speed ahead, have no mercy, then get hit by two blue shells and loads of red shells. I'm getting this game for Christmas (well, technically I bought for my brother, but I'm going to be playing it as well) and I'm going to take your advice about staying 2nd, 3rd or 4th during a race, then towards the end you storm through them and come first. I tested this game out in my local game store, I loved it :D

i love that they not only braught back tracks from previous games but gave them different features, that's what Mario Karts Wii and DS should have done but they just ported them onto the games without toutching most of them, the only one i can remember is the Donkey Kong track from Double Dash that came back in Mario Kart Wii with ramps

I'm personally glad for them taking points away for dropping out due to a bad connection. Some people would use lagswitches to win, or lag the whole game because their connection sucked, or even would just disconnect if they were losing.

I wonder, for Mario Kart 7 do people still use the snaking tactic? (Performing multiple power slides to reach faster speeds in a snake like movement. For people that don't know the concept.) To be honest, I used it a lot when I was playing Mario Kart DS at the 150CC cups where the rubber band A.I. was freaking cheap as always.

Great idea. Someone should homebrew a kind of Super Vectrex Kart game. It's line graphix should handle the core mechanics, concepts and visuals, decently enough. Could probably have a Space Invader, a Pac-Man...and even a JumpMan & Ape. (Mario/Donkey Kong :P ) Should be a few other classics, too.

I just can;t understand why they cut the "vs" mode from the game. The mode was perfect for offline mode, against the computer.

I think they cut out the single player vs mode to encourage people playing time trials and the streetpass grandprix. Also, just a note, local multiplayer is done amazingly, people who have the game join the lobby, and people who don't download and play as shyguy. Every racetrack is available unlike the ds version!

@Fishmon14 I do like the hang gliding and underwater, and the new items, but the character roster was too small, no waluigi or dry bones! also they took out the fake item box. also, they could have had a little more variety in unlocking the characters, I didn't get anything from 50cc or 100cc. but, the graphics and gameplay are good.
