Hi, Mark. Just in case you read this somehow:I LOVE your reviews, they're funny, charming, and you put a lot of effort into them. When I see your videos, they put a big smile on my face and they inspire me and many other people to make reviews.So, I'm going to say this...IGNORE THE HATERS.Just because some dude says that you suck and you do this for views doesn't mean that you have to leave KZbin. There are more people that care about you more in the YT community than what you think. Hell, at this point you shouldn't even care about those people because they don't know what are they talking about, and your content is very well done. So, please, don't leave KZbin! Ignore all those mean comments and keep doing great reviews. Have a nice day, Good Sir.

I like the convenient x68000 compatiblity. Cool to see the resemblance to the Advantage. I always liked the ASCII stuff I've had. Thanks for sharing.

Why can't I find the old ASCII Stick II Turbo AS-3399-FC review? Hoping it can shed some light on the extra ports on the back.

I've got a Joycard Needs for my MSX, and I quite like it -- it's basically a standard NES controller, but with a ridge running along the side that actually makes it a little more comfortable to hold... and with turbo switches for the trigger buttons, of course. The only downside is that the thing is really dirty, so the up and down arrows on the D-pad sometimes get stuck and trigger left and right intermittently when you hold them. And while I've attempted to get into the thing to clean it, the screws on the back have been stripped bare, so I haven't yet found a way to get inside.

There's a recent CGR episode in which Mark comments something like " - Check the Ninja Scroll poster on the wall" while he was showing something else. I can't remember exactly, maybe in that episode in which he was preparing all the stuff to move to a different scenario?

Apparently this one also works on the Sharp X68000, Sweet!! I've seen a controller for the MSX by Hudson that's basically a Famicom controller with a 9 pin connector and Turbo Switches, it looks sweet and since it's by Hudson I bet it's a quality product!
@racerxgundam

way..way back in the day Hudson (which was essentially NEC then) mostly did hardware stuff before they got into software.....I THINK. If i could read Japanese i could have told u definitively but alas..i cannot. I do remember some peripherals with a Hudson branding before some of their games. Pretty much they made top class stuff, and sorta had the reputation of having the "fastest" turbo settings on alot of their controllers over the years. Single best game pad ever made IMHO was their sbom joycard (and yes..lol this is how they branded it) for the saturn. i do believe their perpheral/hardware days ended on the n64? unsure honestly. That controller u mention is essentially the tg16 turbopads..and Hudson even released "premier" versions of it in japan too. While i can't speak on everything they sold in those gens..i will say they made stuff that was on par with hori in my book.
@Michirin9801
@Michirin9801 8 жыл бұрын
racerxgundam Uhh no... Hudson was a company completely separate from NEC... It is true that they've been making hardware, in the form of peripherals for computers since way back in 1973, they've also been making games for NEC, MSX and Nintendo machines since 1983, they were Nintendo's first licensee after all, and had a strong and close relationship with them, but Hudson only became NEC partners in 1987 when their console prototype they had originally pitched to Nintendo had been rejected, was then picked up by NEC... They've been making Turbo Controllers for the Famicom, and indeed, the MSX, since before they joined forces with NEC, and I have a strong reason to believe that their MSX Famicom controller was released before 1987, because had it been released after, it would probably take the shape of their own console's controller, not Nintendo's... One More Thing! Some NEC computers are natively compatible with MSX controllers, so you could use Hudson's turbo Famicom Controller for the MSX to play PC-98 games if you were using the right model!

Ruko Michiharu Ah my bad kiddo...i always keep thinking that NEC and hudson were the same company due to the tg16...old man memory isnt as trustworthy as it once was :-P ... Quality controllers for their eras. i have a couple here and there. whats weird is that on some of the boxes they REALLY make a point about their turbo functions and their rate of fire!!! you'd think that they were advertising alien tech! XD i would say to cop some..but they tend to be expensive... Is the consensus on nintendo's early hardware/peripherals that they were made in-house?, i have the sneaky suspicion they did alot manufacturing externally while being able to brand it themselves...i have some early hudson and hori stuff that make me wonder...nothing definitive mind you, and i don't think i have read anything to that effect, but i think some plastic molds were getting passed around or something. could be as simple as that the same factory produced for more than one company.
@Michirin9801
@Michirin9801 8 жыл бұрын
racerxgundam Well, I don't know much about how they were produced, I haven't used many 3rd party controllers in my lifetime, I mostly use Nintendo controllers, even to play non-Nintendo games...

can't go wrong with that stuff usually. Snes 6 button joint is one of my favs. i got a gamecube some months back and i am SHOCKED how much i like that controller...from pics i thought it would be uncomfortable...

It seems that the NES Advantage had different manufacturers over the years though I have always suspected that Ascii was one of them. One that I know for sure was Mitsumi. They have very different boards inside.

Mark, (a. loved your show for years, let's get that out of the way) (but, b. I know you love collecting and first party, or time correct stuff) but, Is there any way to build a female-male pinrthrough converter to make Megadrive/Genesis stuff work on an MSX? I've never looked into it and have no idea how the interface pins out in the first place. But it could be a thing.

Awesome, you really don't see that many proper arcade sticks for the MSX. Had not seen one of these, and now of course I want one :) I have staved off my urge with a Pachinko arcade machine joystick (which of course had a MSX inside).

The price of MSX stuff is steep indeed i've been checking MSX 2 models on ebay over the last year, and they're just too espensive They're a bit cheaper on Yahoo Auction Japan, but still, collecting for this is out of the question for me (unless I find a dirt cheap MSX 2... but that's just not going to happen)
