Classic Game Room reviews FIGHTING FORCE 2 on Sega Dreamcast

Classic Game Room season 1. January 6, 2000. Review of FIGHTING FORCE 2 for the Sega Dreamcast Video game console. There are a lot of great games on the Sega Dreamcast. This isn't one of them. This is possibly the worst game on the DC, FF2 does nothing well. Not one thing. Seriously. Game Room reviewed this back in early 2000 when games like Soul Calibur, Hydro Thunder and Soul Reaver were out. How could they even think this game would compete? This is a science fiction action shooting game like a first person or third person shooter. You run around like a bohunk with a gangsta John Woo sideways gun grip adn shoot people, do back flips and basically just suck. Although this game takes place in the future we're glad this game is from the past so we never have to look at it again. Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Classic Game Room HD marked the return of the series in 2008. The original Classic Game Room reviewed Atari, NES, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast and Playstation... too bad they didn't get to Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 or Wii. Now Classic Game Room HD is covering the new systems.

I remember me and my sisters had rented Fighting Force for N64 and We Loved that game. Then a few years later we were like holy crap they made Fighting Force 2 on PS1 so we rented that... I stopped playing it after 10 minutes and never touched it again.

I never thought the controls of this game was bad, I actually remember handling it pretty well. Although, I thought this game was boring.

I still have 1 & 2 on the PS1. I remember finally getting 2 and being so let down. 1 was a very simple, but satisfying co-op beat 'em up. And it had the 3 selectable characters! 2 was so different. Had to play as Hawk, no co-op mode and overall, so unsatisfying.

From what I read, it was originally supposed to be Streets of Rage 4 and it shows, with its similarities but it doesn't have nearly as much depth in the fighting as Streets of Rage 2 or 3 did and it just felt like it dragged on and on and on with no reward at the end :P

Damn, this game is mocked by soooo many reviewers. The only bad thing, which developers done in this game was naming it "Fighting Force 2". People which buyed this game expected a classic beat em up, and what they've got was an Action-adventure game. If it was named to something like 'Killer Cop" or 'Future Clash", then ill bet it would be received deiffertent by players, it would be at least mediocre. This game is not bad, its just different.

this was one of those games that i played when it first came out, and adored, then slowly over time grew to hate. i think when i got an xbox and forgot about my DC for a few years, then came back, this was one of the games i played, and i was confused as to why i liked it, and how i managed to play through the entire game. i must have had the patience of a saint back when i was 12

I had it back then. I had a german copy but i still loved this game. As i was watching the review i felt very bad. This game gave me a lot of fun, excitement and it was a pleasure to play with. I didn't even remember if the controls sucked, i only wanted to pass the levels and kill every enemy. I agree that after the fourth (ice stage with some nuclear missiles)level the game got REAL hard and i couldn't beat it. cheers everyone

This was if I recall, the game originially meant to be Tomb Raier 2.5 starring a male lead. But Core switched it and used the Fighting Force franchise they mae on it instead. Although they stripped Fghting Force of everything itwas to begin with by doing this O_o Godamn ... Core went bollocks. Bring back Thunderhawk!

I loved that game. Dunno why but it's one of my all time favorite. I liked trashing everything around me, the weird environment sounds instead of the music, the overall ambience. And I didn't like the first one. I was startled when I found out about how bad reviews this game had. Also I remember this game HAD instant 180degree turn on PSX.

Literally been searching for this game for years. All I remember is a third person game where you can punch a soda machine and a soda falls out (4:53). Finally scratched that itch :)

The Controls Do Suck, it's too damn hard to use your weapon when you want to and not use it when you don't want to, I still can't figure out which buttons kick and punch and how to use the gun and how to not use it when I just want to punch and kick the enemies plus I could not figure out what the hell I was supposed to do to complete the first mission and aborted the game. If you tap on the D-Pad you will turn around. It would be fun if the controls did not suck and you could figure out what to do. Graphics and music are good.

The sad thing is that I once had this game for the Dreamcast - it came with a bunch of games I bought at a flea market - but for some reason the [bleep]ing thing didn't read. It just kept going to the Dreamcast menu screen thing. So yeah, Fighting Force 2 does nothing right. It's not even a good drink coaster.

is it wrong that I loved fighting force 1 and 2? I was a massive streets of rage fan too and was disappointed with FF2 that it wasn't more like number 1 but me and my mate actually enjoyed it, I think it's because we were like 12 and so the awfulness we couldn't truly absorb but i'll never play it again so i'll always remember it fondly

Fighting Force 64 is still one of the best co-op brawlers though in my meaningless opinion. you can pick up pretty much anything and throw it a people, beat people with it or fire it, thats what i loved about that game. The sequel looks HORRIBLE though, the first one was much more playable, lol
