I've only played the first couple of levels for this game, but I liked it. The Invid were always one of my favorite alien species. :) I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that you (the development team) didn't add any levels where you could pilot a transformable Alpha Fighter though. As probably the only game that will ever be based on Genesis Climber Mospeada, this was probably the only chance to include one in a game.

3:07 BECAUSE ARE BAJILLIONS OF THEM. And the Robotech Masters and the Southern Cross has worn themselves down from fighting each other. And the Zentradi who HAD fought the Invid had been reduced to fraction of their former numbers. The Invid became the most dreaded due to the big name players having knocked each other out and they swooped in and picked up the pieces.

I remember my rich friends mom had one of those flip down tv's in her minivan with a ps2 hooked up. After school he showed me this game and I thought it was so fun. Amazing how real i thought the graphics were back then.. They definitely didnt age as well as doom 3 or half life 2 to say the least lol

I actually liked New Generation more than Dana's story. However, I certainly must agree with you about a Sentinels remake. A shame harmony gold will never do it. HG wants to make all new Robotech series fully accessible to a new audience and Sentinels just has way too much back story.

New Generation was my favorite, I liked the gorilla warfare and that they were always on the edge of losing. Two things I always hated about this game being a MASSIVE Robotech fan is, 1. How come I can't ride the bike in the tunnel? It always forced you into the armor mode but they blew threw tunnels in the show all the time! 2. I was mad their were no scenes where I could fly an Alpha/Beta. I felt like that was a miss!

I still remember the first time I watched Robotech in the late 80's through a "borrowed" satellite transmit ion, on the English SUPER channel IIRC. I remained with an open mouth smiling through the episode. The intro music still brings me goosebumps.

Southern Cross was the series that suffered the most from a hack-job edit in Robotech. Macross and Mospeada are pretty straight forward adaptations of the original shows, aside from a few dialogue changes.

About the three segments of Robotech - To me, the middle segment was always my least favorite. Even now, I can't really remember much about it. The first segment, Macross, is burned into my memory and I can remember quite a bit about the third segment, Mospeada, but the middle segment, Southern Cross, is just a blank to me. Maybe it's do to the fact that I liked the mecha and aliens in the first and third segments better than anything in the second.

lurkerrekrul I struggled, half way through, to remember any of the names of the people that were in Southern Cross that's not great. Now the New Generation on the other hand, I can remember Scott Campbell I can remember Lancer I can remember Lunk and yes I can least remember the annoying kid well I have trouble with some of the characters it's only because I just started watching it I'll probably remember them pretty quickly and whoever else is in New Generation.

The Masters Saga (2nd one) was the one that had the hover tanks and featured Dana Sterling, half-Zentraedi and half human (also the daughter of Max Sterling). It basically revolved around the invasion of the Robotech Masters and culminated with Dana discovering the protoculture factory aboard the SDF-1. Out of the three, I would rank it dead last in terms of storyline etc with the first series (Macross) being the best and the third series (New Generation/Mospeada) being the 2nd best.

They should do something like a Robotech version of Battlefront. They can even do the different generations like in Battlefront or let you do a mix of both. VF-1 Valkyrie vs a couple of Cyclones! Invid vs Zentradi!

The redub of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross done several years back is long out of print on DVD, but it's one of the best dubs of all time, going so far as to get the original Japanese voice actress for Minmay to do the English dub, something previously unprecedented. I'm so glad they put that dub on Hulu..... except it looks like they're going to delete it in a few days. Dammit. That show is awesome.

Great review! I wished the Xbox version was compatible with the Xbox 360 like Battle Cry. This late in the game I doubt there will be another patch to make Invasion playable. Too bad.:( The idea of riding a Cyclone sounds too cool. Here's hoping for an HD combo release of Battle Cry and Invasion for the current systems :)

I like the motodroid or cycledrone, what ever it's call, that is pretty cool, it would be cool if they made one like it, that turns into a flying drone, and follows you, and then turns into a motorcycle, also helps.

Gotta disagree w/ you Tome of Infinity, I definitely think of the Invid whenever I hear the word Robotech. How can you not be hypnotized by their frankly amazing theme song?? To each their own, I guess. As far as the game goes, it seems like it would've been a fun bargain bin game back in the days of the PS2, certainly not worth full price but at $5 it looks like a real treat.

Great game, but I do disagree that Robotech The Next Generation does not tie in well with the previous two sagas. I'd say The Next Generation ties in better with the 1st Macross saga than Southern Cross does. I liked all 3 though...

It was done for syndication money. Originally they were going to be 3 different stories under the name "Codename: Robotech" but canned that idea when the figure out they could make more off sequels if they smashed all them together. Now, in the long run I think "Codename: Robotech" might have worked better. Second season could have been orguss and a few others. But that is a the short version of it.

It shouldn't make sense because New Generation/Mospeada was never part of Macross. Even The Masters/Southern Cross wasn't a part of the story and in fact the original series was actually canceled due to poor ratings so the Masters story isn't even complete. The three anime stories were put together simply because they needed a number of shows to be syndicated on TV. This came straight from Tommy Yune from Harmony Gold. Never the less I still enjoy the entire story and will alway watch it over and over. Even though Dana Sterling in not really Dana Sterling the daughter of Max and Miriya.
