Classic Game Room reviews STAR PARODIER for PC-Engine! Amazing parody version of Hudson's Star Soldier series with three playable characters including the Paro-Ceaser, Bomberman and a flying PC-Engine!! Hilarious enemies like a giant snowman, robo-birds and laser firing walruses confront you as you'll power up with Hu Cards and other nonsense. Incredible!!

There's another import-friendly Japan-only port of the game, via the Hudson Soft Star Soldier compilation on PSP (PC Engine's Best Collection vol. 3, which includes Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier, Soldier Blade, and Star Parodier). I highly recommend that compilation too as an alternative.

Love this game. Also, I think there might be an issue with your disc and/or PC Engine, I've never experienced the music cutting out.

yeah this game is awesome, i played it and it's great really fun and you can consider it as a vertical scrolling cute em up. The first 2 levels are very easy but strill a nice game and very enjoyable, a must have if you like shoot em up, even if you don't like the genre you can still enjoy this game, if you can't afford a very expensive and faulty system like the pc engine duo ($200) and a very expensive game ($150) you should try it on the emulator first (magic engine)

Everyone who has even the slightest interest in shmups should play this game at one point, it's too good to just ignore... The soundtrack is gorgeous, the graphics are incredible, the gameplay is amazing~ I have it on the Wii Virtual Console and the music never goes away in there! It shouldn't even go away in the actual PC engine, you need to fix yours and play this again with music at all times! Btw, it also works with no problem on a western Turbografx CD, the Turbo CD is region-free...

I have a Duo and Luckily I have this game and its great and I think yu meight need the capicitors in your Duo replacing Mark - had mine done recently with an RGB colour booster mod - well worth doing the difference is night and day

It's not on the Virtual Console anymore, at least not in the US.

In the pc engine, and the American turbos you can fix this problem by replacing capacitors, game sack did an episode on it.

It's also available on Soldier Collection, a Japan-only shmup compilation for PSP. It's still relatively pricey (~$40 used on Amazon), but much cheaper than getting it on the Turbo CD.

I just played this through an emulator....the music stops there, too. I guess it's pretty accurate emulation then. Sweet.

It sounds to me like the disc is scratched or smudged. I had a Gate of Thunder that'd do that. The PCE gives up really easily if it can't read the music track-- it'll do the same thing if you nudge it while it's playing

You should review Nascar Racing Arcade 2008 its a Arcade machine, see if u can find one on craigslist or something also there are 2 versions of it one version has the regular nascar cars the other version has nascar CoT's (Car Of Tomorrow)

If there's one platform these guys don't give enough love to, it's MS-DOS. DOS games were my childhood and I've yet to see you guys do a review of games like Jazz Jackrabbit, the original MS-DOS version of Prince Of Persia or even DOS games that have gotten re-released on modern PCs like the games published by 3D Realms, formally known as Apogee.

I don't know why the name is so difficult to say, it's Star Paroder, the game even tell you directly how to pronounce it. There's no I anywhere, but I can see how it can be assumed since it's a spin-off of Parodius. The point of the name is parody and parodius put together.

Definitely "Star Parodier" and not "Star Parodia" since it is supposed to sound like "Star Soldier." No, it wasn't supposed to sound like Parodius though Parodius was trying to do something similar (supposed to sound like Gradius).

Azurephoenix13x Nothing.....Witcher 3 is probably the greatest RPG I've played, Dying Light is the best zombie game in a long time, Batman AK is hella fun and looking forward to Metal Gear Solid Phantom pain, Dragon Quest Heroes and Fallout 4.

Azurephoenix13x The problem with many old gamers I see is their habit of generalizing about new games of being bad. For me, these games are only good enough for nostalgia. Gameplay wise they don't do much for me anymore. I fancy large immersive worlds with dynamic game play and varied quests. To each his own I guess.

The English "Fantasy Star Soldier" version on Virtual Console loses the awesome introduction sequence even though all it needed was a new audio track! D: Honestly, they should have included it with the Japanese audio instead of cutting it out entirely! It's not like we can't tell what's going on.
