It is also important to get true RGB out. All of the research I've done says you have to internally mod the system's RGB and SYNC signals. But on the other hand this product and others like the db-Electronics grafx booster claim to produce true RGB video without internal mods. I have the skills and willingness to do the internal mod, just not to my stock, in box TG-16. I'd sooner buy the PCE if I can't have my cake and eat it too!

The people who think this item is too expensive are simply nuts... It would cost more to just buy a PC Engine Duo system, or one of the myriad number of CD games that hundreds of dollars. So with this item, all you need is a PC Engine console (base, Core Grafx I or II, TG16) and now you can play: 1. Every single HuCard game 2. Every single CD game 3. Every single Super Grafx game (if you have the console) 4. All arcade CD games PLUS: RGB and component video support without modding your console. If you can't afford the price, that's understandable. But don't say the item is overpriced, because it provides a stunning amount of content and features for the price. Yes, I may have a couple complaints, but they are overall quite negligible and can be addressed with a future firmware patch. This has been one of the best additions to my videogame collection, and now I have unlocked the full potential of my PC Engine and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite consoles of all time.
@nororengo2866 жыл бұрын
You will spend about the same or more if you dont have the PC-engine/Tg-16 system. might be cheaper to get a PC-Engine Duo-R already RGB modded and Recapped. no copy protection, so you can Burn games. and get an everdrive for $75. out of all the CD based games, maybe 30 are even worth playing. This thing is awesome dont get me wrong, you are right about people complaining about price.
@WestSide12076 жыл бұрын
Hello kyle, You are right about a number of things, but one more aspect I forgot to mention is the convenience factor. Since you can get the BIOs for all the system cards (and the arcade card is built in already) that is one thing that makes it easier, plus having all your CD bin/cue files on a single microSD card instead of hundreds of CDs. There is also the reliability factor, many Duo-R's have failing CD drives at this point, and while fixable, it is not always a cheap process. So there is much less of a headache with just getting an SSDS3.

I remember catching the TurboGraFx at my local Mall's game shop somewhere around late 89 - 90'. There were a couple of Kiosks, where i got to play Bonk's Adventure, while Keith Courage was on display in the stores main showcase with all of the Turbo Accessories. I remember seeing Samurai 'mode' Keith roaming around on a CRT and my jaw almost hit the floor. The colors and visuals for Bonk were defnitely impressive after being so accustomed to the NES too. 89, was amazing time to be alive! :D Yet, the lack of a 2nd controller port, no Composite/AV port(They made us fork over more money for adapters which was pure BS) poor CD case Box Art, lame UCard logo-only sticker art, and poor commercial adverts. The controller looked cool, but the NA console design was a bit of a mixed bag. Plus there didn't seem to be an real support from some of the key players like Capcom or Konami. They completely butchered the TurboGraFx in NA. lol Anyways, thinking about getting a PC Engine(White) + PC Engine CD paired with the Interface Unit. Looks awesome aesthetically, plus you get composite cable support.

Reverse polarity is a class 1, 2, and 3 defect per IPC, so you were right to point that out. Nice to know some history about this machine. But personally I rather stick with emulation for older consoles with Retropie on a Raspberry Pi 3. Not only for the huge difference in pricing but also because the lack of space for every console ever released on my shelves. I will agree that playing games on the original vintage hardware with even a old television gives the best experience but emulation gives a great experience as well. I do always try to look for USB replica's of the controllers to get as close to the original experience as possible with only one computer for emulation.
@snugglyjeff2146 жыл бұрын
yeah that was my first thought....why go through all this to do almost the same thing with emulation using filters? Just seems like a giant waste of space and money. I mean they are emulating some games on the original hardware....seems pretty dumb.

I retracted my Like on this video. As some know TerraOnion's Alex harasses competitors and as krikzz's country was being bombed/invaded by Russia, he chose to troll him, imply he was a cowardly draft-dodger for trying to get himself/his family out of Ukraine, also accused him of being a tax cheat to keep prices low (so Alex can justify his own higher prices to customers). Long story short, I'd never buy a TO product, and luckily will instead choose the Analogue Duo over this solution!

I'm fairly certain that reversed capacitor only affects the composite video decoder. The RGB decoder doesn't on the other hand so by using either a SCART or Jp-21 cable you effectively bypass that module. Good info for anyone with older revs that don't want to muck about with soldering.

That why I got a Mega Drive again (the games I still had). Emulation simply doesn't give me the same vibe. Now I'm only missing a CRT. I'm still wondering if I should get a Mega CD but I never owned one so it might be enough to emulate it with my laptop and connecting a CRT Monitor via VGA plus getting a Mega Drive style USB controller. I always liked the look of the TurboDuo and would prefer to get one of them. And a Sharp X68000 in black... And a Wondermega model 1... *dream* The Amiga would be also interesting as I only played a friend's Amiga 500 and went from C64 directly to PC (not counting consoles). I don't miss the C64's floppy flipping though as playing Ultima 6 was a pain.
