Love how family-friendly this channel is. Unlike other gaming channels, you actually use the built-in mature-content warning on certain videos.

Great game, it still ranks as my favorite shooter of all time, used to play it on my TurboExpress portable quite a lot! I almost mastered beating it with no deaths on max difficulty (where Difficulty must be unlocked with an Easter Egg code), but I choked at the very last sequences of bosses... Stage 2 & 6 background tracks are excellent, my favorites! Highly recommended game for shooter fans, can't go wrong! 2/5-minute mini games are fun too!

Mark is probably the only reviewer on KZbin who truly has FUN playing the games he reviews. Sure, graphics, art design, controls, etc are important, but the fun factor is really what matters in the end. LOVE CGR!

There is a handheld version of the PC engine. You should review it. It's awesome and has even more awesome screen. It's called NEC TurboExpress.

Are you tired of feeling tired? Are you tired of feeling groggy, sleepy or exhausted? Try the new CGR coffee mug made out of molten Sega Genesis cartridges. Inside the coffee mug is a fresh brew of hot coffee which is a sure way to keep you awake, alert and ready for gaming. Great review as always Mark. Thanks!

The second I saw that green lightning, I really was reminded of Truxton (which I still don't have, as it's on the somewhat pricey side of the Genesis market, but I will someday).

Download an extension called "KZbin Options" and you can turn them off completely and you can for example set the viewing quality to the highest. And it has many more awesome settings. You should try it. :D

The game is available on Japanese PS Store if anyone is interested. KZbin doesn't allow me to post the link but if you can get into JPN PSN, just highlight one of the upper links and click on the one that reads 'PC *moon language*'

We need a Gate of Thunder review ASAP. One of the most underrated shooters ever, released for the TurboGrafx CD
@zborgerd11 жыл бұрын
It's about time Mark reviewed the PC Engine. Turns out that it's the only console that he doesn't own. You should also play Gunhed / Blazing Lazers. Then some Soldier Blade. Then Final Blaster. Then the Konami ports of Gradius, Salamander, Parodius, Twinbee, etc., Or the CD-ROM games like gate of Thunder, Lords of Thunder, Sapphire. The PC Engine shooter greats are practically endless! More PC Engine!

I recently bought this for the Vita while a smups buying spree and out of the seven shooters I bought that day only this one and Neo Geo Heroes Ultimate Shooters showed true inspiration. Although all of the games I ended up with were high quality very satisfying affairs: Sine Mora, Super Stardust Delta, Last Resort (in SNK classics vol. 1), Sonic Wings Special, STRIKERS 1945 PLUS Portable, and Soldner-X 2. Pretty damn fine haul from PSN store I'd highly recommend any of those games to any smup lover out there, and buying SNK classics vol.1 comes with the added bonus of Magician Lord, one of the best Arcade Cabinets ever constructed in the history of mankind.

I've been going quite a few of these older videos since I bought a Nintendo WII U Console recently after it was announced the online store was gonna get switched off. Ya fans miss not having new reviews added to the channel or no new comic book content being done. If ya having a break. Fair enough. But when ya want to come back on for whatever we will still be here. (Nes Manga) P.S. Nice vehicle in the back. Very Breaking Bad of you.

A really clever - accidental? - thing is how you reach a certain part of the music as you're introduced to new and unfamiliar weapons. Music is used to really amp-up the tension in later levels: it's made clear you're going to be put through a trial: you have to fight most of the bosses again hahahah!

While I own this game and enjoy it, it's my least favorite of the the PC engine Star Soldier games, I felt that Final Soldier was much more accessible and reasonable, while Soldier Blade was a better game overall. I still play this one pretty frequently though.
