Is it possible to change the lock set on the glove box on the G bodies if you do not have the key and unable to lock the glove compartment?

Thanks so much for the lock lesson! I need the fasteners for a 1979 olds landau top trim. I need the B pillar Fasteners along with the ones that go across the roof. Hoping you could be of help. Also need to remove glove box door, having problems do you have a how to video for that? It seems to me that there’s more to remove than just the three obvious screws on the bottom.

You remove the screws and then there are metal tabs you just push the sides of the glove up inward. The trim clips can be found on line, just do some research. If you are having issues then join Classic Gbody Garage on facebook and ask the group.

I'm stuck trying to figure out how to install the rod keeper clip. Any help? Seems like you gotta slide the clip over the hole and force the rod threw the slit but there's zero clearance and it doesn't wanna poke through. Im considering drilling a hole in it so it can help it along.

For my cutlass when i try to open the door with the key its hard, i have to use two hands to open it, any idea why?

the lock or latch needs a lot of oil. Spray inside where the key goes and try to spray the latch inside the door. Pulling the door panel off helps. Oil the window tracks if you pull the panel of while your at it.

a lock keeper? you mean the lock cylinder? You can buy on ebay and have a keyed.

No the ignition only unlocks the steering wheel. You have another issue going on.

Hey Brian what kind of numbers does a bone stock 403 make? I have an 86 Z/28 with a cooked 305, my buddy has a rotted out Cutlass with a low mile good running 403 I can have free! Is it worth it or should I find another 305

jsciarri make sure you grab the glove box lock from the parts car and swap the lock as well or take the lock to a lock smith to match it to the key.
