Thanks! I have an 85 D150 that the ignition cylinder wore out and locked up and I had to replace it. I also will have to replace the door lock cylinders too as the 85 used only one key for the doors and igniiton. I've already done the ignition cylinder and am waiting for some good weather to do the doors. Your video is very helpful.

Well I'm getting ready to do. My daughter did actually lose a key. To her truck it's going to cost $200 to tow it in town. So here I go to attempt to change the lockout so I can get a locksmith to match it up cuz it's also the same one for ignition

I need to have my locks and ignition matched...its a pain having separate keys. Luckily the locks are easily removed and installed to get the matched up, if it's even possible

Unfortunately I now have 2 sets of keys....I may some day have this thing re-keyed so I only need one

Quick question: How does the cylinder rod connect to the door lock rod? I saw you use a channel locks. Does it click on? Click down? What's the trick? Been working on it for about an hour.

If I remember right I used the channel locks to get get the clip holding the cylinder to the door into place. As for the rod, since it is s-shaped, it just goes into the hole on the back of the cylinder (I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but go back to the 4:00 point in the video). I removed the rod and old lock cylinder from the door in order to get the rod into the cylinder. As for getting the rod back into the latch, you will probably have to replace the plastic pieces that more than likely crumbled when you took it all apart...at least I did.

99 ram van... got the clip off but now do I remove lock cylinder fro the inside or outside of door? It's not budging (van was painted). I dont want to force w/o some instruction. I lost the ignition key and was told this is the best solution to get one. Yes, there was one key for both door and ignition. Locksmith agreed. Thanks.
