Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today I want to talk about the rumor that Blizzard will be releasing Classic+. After being mentioned in a video that was recently reacted on by Asmongold that caught my attention, I decided I might as well chime in on what Classic+ from Blizzard would look like and what it means to the community, and also I couldn't contain my excitement.

here's my list: - finish the classes. paladin, shaman, druid, etc. and add some QoL like totem recall or shifting between animal forms. - transmog and barber. - balance racials and classes in pvp. - rated BGs. and new BG types and maps. - i want to see a battle royale BG (chromie themed) where you drop on a map classless, and loot containers, and they give you abilities. - also a PvPvE where groups are fighting npcs in a "lane" each, to get to the one final boss (good loot), but occasionally it will be allowed to attack each other and set them back.

First step of Classic+ is for Blizzard to embrace the private server scene and not put it down. Let creators stream these servers. Embracing the pserver scene also helps Blizzard identify what exactly players want from Classic+ whilst they develop it.

It's all non pay to win and completely optional. People purchase frequently and on multiple chars

I think the issue has always been their servers attract so many people, that micro changes that private servers are able to do just aren't as possible. I'd personally rather see them support or license out some kind of system to private servers so teams have a place to design. Being able to pick through servers that have been acknowledged and supported by Blizzard would be super interesting, and would give them far more control.

So I've always thought about this in a way. What if they didn't do tbc or wrath , during the brainstorming sessions etc, what are the other ideas they had. That would be interesting to go into and see how different it would be. That or find away to integrate the ideas of the expansions in a way that keeps the feel of vanilla, essentially t wow lol

Being optimistic about this is either very ignorant or very stupid on anyone's part. It's like you're trying to ignore the past 3 or 4 or even 5 years of bullshit that Blizzard pulled and thinking they'll improve now just because they're focusing on what made them in the first place. Here's what you can expect of vanilla+ from blizzard: 1. Modern audience adjustments (you know exactly what that means) 2. Ridiculous lore writing and shitting on the preexisting characters 3. More monetization, more profits at any cost (screw your immersion, here's a cosmic transformer ship mount for 20 bucks) 4. Removal of "offensive" content (/spit, women in paintings, etc.) And I'm only being realistic here, pessimists can name even more stuff I haven't mentioned.

Blizzard just lacks behind the private servers. People say they are big with a lot of money, but it's actually a disadvantage in this case. That's why I don't understand why people have big hopes with the recent Microsoft acquisition. It only means there will be more executives who wants their share from the company's earnings, and it only means WoW becomes a smaller part in a much bigger portfolio. There is a need for Classic and there is a need for Classic+ and private servers are serving these needs for years now, because even if the Blizzard devs understand they should take advange of this, they need to convince their executives to fund their projects, but these executives has zero clue about the game and it's community, absolutely not invested and their focus is shared between dozens of project that they want to earn money from. I belive Classic+ will be mildly enjoyable, they will take a super safe route without trying out some crazy creative ideas, it will be monetized as much as they can, and the developement will be as cheap as it gets. It will be a more boring version of the Classic+ private servers with slightly less bugs, but with more bots, more cash shop and more server realated issues.

Personally lvl 70 is wrong in a lvl 1-60 vanilla Azeroth world and NO flying. What can be done is maybe some class tweaks so it's not gonna be warriors and rogues reins supreme until Naxx. Give tank pala a taunt, dps pala crusader strike, boomkins some mana reg, same for shadow priests etc without going too crazy with the changes. Things like that. Just don't blindly trust them. Remember what they said during blizzcon announcing classic "we want to reproduce the authentic game as it were then" bs and look what we got for Classic version: Level boost, able to make 55 DK on a fresh account and above all, f-ing wow token! I'll stay sceptical optimist at best. 1) I will play "Classic+" if they do it right. But if they are even thinking of adding level boost and especially wow token, HARD pass! Maybe that's why they charge 50 bucks, hence no token? 2) For the love of God if they add High Elves (BEs) please update the bow animation to newer one. Was a big welcomed change later on. Old animation is aweful. A simple toggle would work. 3) Scarlet Monastery raid. Considering how popular SM dungeons have always been. Fill the empty and unfinished areas with content. Many places on the world map to add more. 4) If they will add housing which was a plan for Vanilla back in the days, don't make it like in WoD. Last thing we need is "empty" servers where people sit in their houses and "farm/craft" all day. I was one of those players who quit WoW Classic Wrath when they added the token. Also spread the word that this years Blizzcon will be *FREE to stream* and that has been confirmed.

Good to see you are really optimistic, i honestly think they will do something good, but it will get tainted with P2W and problems that existed in classic/tbc/tlk. I think it will be like classic at start, everyone will have fun, but the problems will arise even faster than in classic, and is gonna feel bad to play it. Good thing is Vanilla + servers will always be there for us, i dont see epoch or ascencion giving up because of what blizzard did.

I mean, not trusting blizzard is fine with all the shit they've been pulling, but yeah, I kinda have little to no expectations really, we'll see sorta thing. I just hope they don't focus solely on endgame with hyjal, uldum, raids, etc. I wanna see some new things (quests, spells/talent changes, zones) while leveling so it doesn't feel the same again. And ofc some of the cool shit we've seen from private servers would be good. But even if the game is good, the community could also ruin it, I guess. Or wow tokens/layering/bots like you said.

I wanted classic + from the beginning. I hated classic wow leaving all the old, bad stuff in place. Mara bugs for gold makers/sellers, Dire Maul bugs for the same, boosting, warrior dominance over the entire thing... For real, a parsing guild had to be 20 warriors or you wouldn't even show up in the rankings. I wanted them to work with what classic was, and make it better. Fix bugs, itemization fixes, class fixes, ect. Each and every class had so much they could have done to improve it, but instead they kept the changes to themselves to sell to you piece meal expansion after expansion. I wanted the world to matter. I wanted them to improve it! Better flora, fauna, improve the mob AI, some sensible quality of life stuff. I wanted them to give people a reason to be all over the world. Instead, they made classic wow, and it wasn't as good as it could have been.

Great video. However, I hope Blizzard will never try to make Classic+. I doubt that they would be able to expand the game authentically and satisfactorily. I'd be happy to be convinced otherwise, but until then I'll continue to play on private servers, which I'm absolutely satisfied with.

The best possible "classic plus" would be an official game editor like WC3 or SC2 custom. They can't please everyone with any single version of classic+, so if they want to capture the private server market, their best option would just be to get everyone making servers through their client.

Agreed. 2 things are holding back for custom servers popping out: Expensive and hard to make because of how the game have been build (it's huge tangled mess and even making simple spell is stupidly complicated). And another reason is the fear of hard work going wasted because you don't "own" what you made. Blizz can come and take it away if it is going to be too popular. Second reason is probably gonna happen for Ascension someday, specially since they sell stuff with real money as well. I do hope the classic+ would be instead "WoW editor" full support and maybe even server hosting for free for low amount of players and if the server have multible thousand players then ask for small fee for server slot. However since the game is horrible mess of tangled web, they really would have to remake whole game for making the "modding" of the game more accessible for the masses. What I think would be second best thing is to restart whole thing as asmon said in his video aka new servers and go thru the original vanilla but instead of the TBC continue expanding the original map by adding more into already existing locations. And to do that best possible way would be to make WoW 2. Remake whole engine, update graphics, make the engine modular so adding new small patches would be simple and fast, separate the folder structure to clear themes aka make own folder for textures, sounds, animations, skills, texts etc instead of everything being packed and needing extraction before the change can be made (current way of doing things is really slow when developing and testing new changes and same time makes the game very hard to be modified which slows down the possibility of custom servers).

@@Omili The game came out in 2004, idk exactly when development started, but assuming 3-4 years. I can totally understand why it's a mess. Coding practices were all over the place at that time, I wasn't around to see it, but I work on a piece of software that's just been built upon since 2001. And when you have to dig into the old code, it's a dreadful experience. But in my case, the government has no incentive to spend the money to rebuild it from the ground up to improve my experience of coding it. Blizzard has all the incentive in the world to create an editor, because realistically it's a major reason they had so much money to make WoW in the first place. If they can replicate that level of success with WoW (since they didn't on the original release), then that could easily fun games for decades.

The WoW token for me, is a way to pay for not having to do the mandatory time sinks that don't need to be there, which in and of itself is insane, as other games don't have that time sinks but WoW does and then you 'can pay' for removing that. Silly silly blizzard.

Hi McDoubles, Thanks for the fine video and the information. I hope Blizzard wouldnt do it actually. Classic was destroyed with Token and BuyToWin is and will be the way it goes on. It would never be the same again regardless of new content or class-changes. Its always in the hand of the REAL Fans of this game. As someone said, i would only play if they hire from this big custom classic teams like acsencion and turtlewow so on, everything else would be a moneydriven maschine as it is... sadly.... maybe im a bit too negative and im still dissapointed about the way classic goes now...

I just started playing on twow recently and im only about lvl 20, but its a very refreshing feel with All the New quests and such even in the starting zones. I really like their approach to classic+ and that they dont just Focus on adding New endgame content but put so much work in desiging New dungeons, quests and whole zones for low lvl content. And i kinda doubt that Blizzard in that regard, that they will Do a good Job like twow does. Blizz mostly cares about endgame imo.

No optimistic about a Blizzard developed Classic+ at all. Even without a WoW Token, they do little to nothing to combat botting and RMT, which are the biggest killers of the spirit of Vanilla. They simply will not invest in development or GMs to police whatever content they do put out. I have had lightyears better support on Turtle WoW then I have ever had from Blizzard directly.

I don’t see Classic+ happening just yet. I think we’ll get Cata Classic and SoM 2 at Blizzcon. But if Classic+ ever did happen I actually feel like Blizzard could do a pretty good job with it. I think they know and respect the love people have for vanilla WoW and want it to be a pure experience. That’s why they haven’t and won’t put the WoW token in it even though they will in other versions of the game. They are smart enough to know people want Classic+ because they prefer the original feel of the game, they just want more content in that same style. They know deviating too much from that feel would alienate the entire player base that would even want to play Classic+ and then cause their whole investment of time and money into Classic+ to be all for nothing. So I actually do think they will respect the feel of the game and make a Classic+ that works very well

Blizzard needs to learn from CoA and Turtle WoW, copy their best ideas, make open world pvp makes sense and have a purpose, perhaps a public open world pvp campaign, make ogres, goblins, forest troll, high elves, furbolgs and more playable races, never make flying mounts a thing, make it free to play and perhaps they may succeed.

Saying that people calling modern blizzard is bad and not trusting them to make good content are just "doomers" is dumb. Go look at even something like Diablo 4 and how much of a train wreck it is, how poorly its been handled basic things about it that have been solved in previous Diablo games. Their excuse for how poorly its handled is how basically none of the people working on Diablo 4 worked on previous games, its an entirely new team. Blizzard is a ship of theseus situation, the vast majority of its talent has left and has been gone for a long time. Blizzard released TBC and that turned into retail! The shaman was the OP class cause it's the expansion! They nerfed the hell out of shamans! That was the finally straw for me and my guild that stuck around until they went woke with blizzard! Blizzard just needs to let WOW go! Its nothing but toxic and retail players! They ruined the game!
