An absolutely brilliant song! Jimmy Webb is one of the greatest songwriter of the 20th Century. Richard Harris does the definitive version, in my opinion.

Thank you for your insightful reaction and for your appreciation of this beautiful song. This song has taken so much undeserved criticism for far too long and why I'll never understand,

Thank you Paul! I grew up hearing this wonderful song through my mom. She had the vinyl album which she played a lot. We put extra effort to add stock images because we felt we needed show visuals for the cake and old men playing checkers by the trees for added appreciation.🙂

The best part for me is the slow part "there will be another song for me for I will sing it... I will take my life into my hand and I will use it..." poignant, emotional, longing, regrets, all expressed😢. I used to listevto this in the late 90s in Melbourne

Thank you! I think you did an excellent review of this classic. I love that you included all of the history of the song and broke it down and analyzed each part. Fifty-five years and the ballad movement still brings tears to my eyes. It's so beautiful. Jimmy Webb is a brilliant composer. The emotion he puts into his piano playing makes my heart soar to the heavens. The third movement has that classic late 60's vibe. Wonderful job! Thank you!

Thank you very much Gloria! Reading your positive review makes it all worth it. I did this reaction video with so much love and respect to the iconic song. I even inserted visuals to emphasize the beauty of MacArthur Park. I took my time discussing the song because it isn’t everyday that one gets to react to a classic. I grew up hearing this song from my mom who played Richard’s album all the time. I have received comments about the length of this reaction video that it was too long, I should have cut it and all that but for me there was no room for compromise. I’m really proud to have reacted to the song the way I wanted to. Your wonderful review is both humbling and inspiring 🙏❤️🙂.

Thanks so much KJ! I really appreciate your review. I did this review with tender, loving care as my tribute to the late, great Richard Harris. I took my time to discuss the song. I even had visuals inserted to enhance song appreciation.

Surge - thank you for your KZbin channel - I only wish that you had your Email address available for subscribers - my wife is from the Philippines - I enjoy communicating with people. Thank you for your insights into this song - it brings back great memories as it was released the year I graduated from HS. I was rather surprised to learn that Jimmy Webb authored this song - never would have guessed.

Thanks for the support Brian. I’ll add my email address this weekend. Great to know your wife is from the Philippines. Mabuhay! When we did this reaction video last year, we took our time and even added some visuals because I consider it a special and iconic song. It’s my mom’s favorite. Glad that you liked the video. All the best. 🙂🙏🎵❤️

I don't understand the people who say that you should have cut parts out of the song. You will understand that you cannot, by cutting the song you destroy it. I enjoyed hearing the song in full and your comments too. Look at Doug Helvering, for example. He not only reviews long pieces of music but he makes extensive analyses of the technical aspects of the music and discusses the lyrics. If you review a good song then it will benefit by this. Thank you anyway for your review.

Thank you Paul! I really appreciate your comment. It’s not everyday that an iconic song with the beauty and length of MacArthur Park comes along. In the reaction video, we even did inserts on the cake and the rain for visual appreciation as well as providing our analysis. I also enjoy hearing songs all over again when I see other reaction videos so I don’t cut for the benefit of those who want to hear the song again and also for full appreciation for those who are hearing it for the first time. We rarely do long songs so MacArthur Park was an exception and it was very fulfilling to react to it. I first heard about Richard Harris through my mom who wore out the vinyl copy of The Richard Harris Love Album. I grew up hearing his songs. 🙂🙏

I know the song is 7minutes long and all but you could've cut out some parts of it since this is a reaction video and not a replay of said song. Great insights but this video could've been better if you made it shorter and edited out some parts of the song. Anyway I love the song as well as the video but make your videos shorter please.
@SoulSurging Жыл бұрын
This is the only long song we have done. Since it’s a classic, we felt we had to listen and react to the whole song for the benefit of new listeners and those who want to hear and relive the song all over again while also doing a reaction. Thank you for the comment.

I love this song but I hope you can find a way to cut the song to make it shorter, and a quicker explanation. Not a fan of long videos please make your video shorter next time

Thanks for the suggestion but this is actually the only long song we have done. This is a classic song and we took our time, did a lot of visual inserts which we don’t normally do as our tribute to the late, great Richard Harris. Our reaction video was made out of love and our apologies if you found the song too long.
@antostate9534 Жыл бұрын
could've cut out some parts of the song or just made a full on review instead of having to react to the entirety of the song. this whole video could've been shorter if you cut out some parts of it as well as a quicker explanation.

We took our time with our reaction and explanation because this is an iconic song. This is also the first time we reacted to a seven minute song. We also consider our viewers who like hear the song all over again together with our reaction.

We rarely listen and react to long songs. I think this is the only long song we have reacted to. MacArthur Park is an iconic song and we are reacting to it for the benefit of new listeners and to those who would like to relive the song.

Keep your reaction simple and short you don't need to play the song in it's entirety.

Thanks for your suggestion but this an iconic song which we should listen to in its entirety for the benefit of new listeners and for the old listeners who would like hear the song again or who have not heard the song in a long time. Besides it’s rare that we listen to a 7-minute song.
