That low blow was legendary
@rubenpita1585 Жыл бұрын
Wow, I miss this kind of fights and telecasts...I really do. The audio from the corners and referee, the poetry blow by blow of Jim Lampley combined with complementary poetry analysis of Larry Merchant plus the savviness of Manny Stewart. All this is gone as gone are the latest superstars that created this kind of buzz and drama inside the ring, followed everywhere they went just like Cotto, Mayweather, Pacquiao, DLH, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, Hatton amount others like them. Do you also feel that nostalgia from time to time?

@@IceveinsProductions howd the energy of the crowd change in person from start to end? I feel like TV doesnt do justice to athletes compared to in person. Who impressed you more in person compared to what you thought headed into arena?
@IceveinsProductions Жыл бұрын
@@PaulEide80 So #1 it was MSG in New York and EVERY seat was taken. Just entering the arena felt like I was attending a major event, I've been to MSG many times and this was just a different energy. I'd say over 50% of the crowd was Puerto Ricans, who are animated people and were cheering loudly for their man from the moment he walked to the ring. Zab had a smaller following there but he's a New Yorker and most of the black people in the crowd were supporting him. Zab also had an unfavorable reputation since the Tszyu fight debacle, while Cotto was beloved, so it was like a battle of good vs evil. As for the fight itself, Judah is explosive for the first few rounds and had Cotto in trouble a few times. When Zab started waning in the middle rounds like he usually does, Cotto started picking him apart to the crowd's content. When Zab took a knee in the 9th round it was an intense rush of crowd energy, the entire arena was on their feet and the crowd noise penetrated your soul. Then when Cotto dropped Zab in the 11th, it was bedlam all over again. Then the next round when the ref waived off the fight it was madness. As people left the arena the energy was still up and I felt wired for hours. No live fight that I attended after this one has really compared to it.

A lot of people forget that zab Judah was actually an amazing fighter and the only true faster at that time who was faster and a real danger to Floyd mayweather. But zab lost to Floyd because he doesn’t take his conditioning as serious it’s always been his problem. I think zab could have beat Floyd if he kept up with his conditioning. He won most of the first 6 rounds of their fight as well

Man when Zab cut loose and put combos together his hands were fast and nasty! I really think he could have been better than he ended up being. I literally followed his entire career almost always rooting for him, and saw his Dad begging, pleading, commanding for him to THROW COMBOS! When he did, he had success. Joel was CONSTANTLY between rounds driving that point home. Almost every round of his life that was aired on TV anyway.

Hard to tell if that early low blow was actually low or not. Zab overacted the damage for sure, but love what the referee is saying to him. You got 5 minutes, you’re a professional, take your time and shake it off. It was a low shot to the best of his knowledge and he’s encouraging the guy to recover. As a big mma fan, it’s nice to see referees that take care of their guys here and there. Jason herzog is our only hope for decent refereeing in the ufc
