Great to see how you found the leak, gives others an idea of what to look for in similar situations. Good to seethe mini is ready to go again!

Hello Dave When l trained at South Devon Garages , 55 years ago !!!! Water leaks were , and always will be , my pet hate . Well done . We used luminous dyes with a special lamp. So you sprayed the dye on the exterior and with the torch you could trace it on the inside . It helped but you could still spend days stripping out the interior fittings and sealing . Cheers !

John, I know what you mean I worked for a Ford dealer in Harrogate and the amount of new cars that would be brought in for leaks was shocking. Cheers Dave

The annoying thing is it had to be that one day I was taking for a MOT test that it pissed down with rain as normally i wouldn't use in the rain. Cheers Dave

John, Thanks very much. There was a lot of time & effort put in to this build. I‘m just glad we found the water issue now & not much later. Cheers Dave

Touch ups are looking great! Wish mine looked that good. Getting there slowly, also need approval from the government and if she says yes😂love the Paddy piece against the toolbox. I got myself the Paddy short shifter and keyring from Mini Sports. Still have to install the shifter but trying to fix the brakes first
@ClassicCarCaveАй бұрын
Thanks, The short gear shift really makes a difference from what BMC had as the basic gearstick. Normally it will be either the master cylinder or the spring loaded valve pressure regulator valve on the bulkhead which will cause an issue with bleeding brakes as theres not much else to go wrong. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, Have a look at Kurt Tanners latest posting, a quite nice looking XK150. which might be worth a look. Strange largish gap each side of the bonnet. Maybe just the way he has part closed it.

Thanks I will. I don‘t know his channel but I will try and find it. Cheers Dave

this is why Jaguar have a fan cooled battery on the XJ6 not a water cooled one like your mini 😁😁🤣🤣🤣 And of course had you not made such a good job sealing up the bottom the water would have just drained out. Sods law strikes again, of course now you will make a drain hole at the lowest point , won't you ?

Gary, It‘s a hidden feature that BMC developed to put buoyancy in the battery 🤔🤣 or maybe to balance to the weight distribution 😂 Cheers Dave

Hi Dave. Hope you are well. I would please like to ask some advice. I got the gunson eezibleed kit however not having luck. I got a new GMC227 MC which I fitted and pressuee tested with no leaks. Brand new lines shoes and drums. Any idea as to what might cause this? Doubt the pressure valve is gone?
@ClassicCarCaveАй бұрын
When you fitted the MC I take it the system was dry and you didn't pump any fluid through it before installing to check it was pumping🤔 you don't need to fill the reservoir but just enough to prime the system. The two major components that cause problems are the MC & the Pressure regulator. Cheers Dave
@gsxrpat6147Ай бұрын
@@ClassicCarCaveCorrect sir. Brand new unit. I have seen bleeding the MC by just opening the nuts on that to ensure the fluid is pushed through. Really hoping the pressure valve is not the issue, spent so much money already and I doubt the government would approve me buying extra parts, she won't be happy😂
