Looking good DB.... I will certainly come back and revisit these videos when I do my boot. Don't you love those shiny black Heritage panels....

Yes Randy i love seeing new metal on the car, even better once its welded in

Its getting there slowly but surely bud but I agree that the Jig's are a hindrance due to them making the shell flex

Can't wait to get to a stage to get off the jig and semi mobile again

This brings back memories with the same issues I had when fitting my boot floor, even with the heritage arches going in at same time, I had the same problem around the driver's side arch not fitting correctly at the rear. Plenty of hammer and Dolly will sort that pal. 👍👍

I think your right with the jig not helping as it's probably bending down in the centre and your right to support it underneath, I didn't have a jig but had it on its roof with roof bars to sit on, mine was opposite whereby the boot floor was slightly lower at the rear, once I'd propped it up to support it temporarily, everything came into line. Pics on Sean's FB page pal too 👍

Great work! Those bars on the subframe rear mounts are a great idea, definitely something I will do next time I'm doing a boot floor!
@DBMiniDIY5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah they give a lot of support and are a good reference point

Yes mate, one bit of solid metal at a time

DB, It‘s always going to be a problem with such a large panel but the basic fit is not bad considering you have a few panels to change and the bars across where the trunions fit are very small tabs. Once you start to screw it in place it will pull it all in to line, I mentioned the same thing to Randy about his complete floor. Cheers Dave
@DBMiniDIY5 жыл бұрын
Yes I'm finding it is pulling in better when clamping and screwing in, I won't weld until i know its right, cheers

Grate work on the boot floor.is it just me or does new panels look grate when they are brand new😁😊😊😃

Thanks Louise, I love seeing the new metal. When its welded in, it gives a solid base to weld from knowing it is all solid

Looking good DB. I remember all this only to well with the 89 build the jig was causing my issues. Yours looks like it’s gone in a lot easier. Nice work.

Have you got both the rear bins fitted? I need to to the same job to mine but to me it looks like I’d need at least one bin out to get the boot floor through! Top videos always enjoy watching
@DBMiniDIY5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matt. I only have one bin in, i removed the other years ago but the boot floor should still slot in with both fitted
@thedjse5 жыл бұрын
Nice update db... will you be fitting the new wheel tubs before welding in the floor?
@DBMiniDIY5 жыл бұрын
I will clamp it, get it right then weld the floor to the seat base, bolt or screw to the floor then can move onto the arches, so it will be welded on the parts that will be staying
