Hi Steve, my son Chris has purchased all the parts from you and I see that brass spacer.Previously the primary gear had a floating inner bush.Looking at your video would you advise/ agree that we will need to replace that with a pressed in bush? I’m not new to building race engines, but this will be the first mini one to blue print. Appreciate your thoughts Allan F

So guys quick question, what is the possibility of welding up the existing C-clip groove and machining back to the correct dimensions, would this strengthen the tail of the crankshaft and stop the breakage ?

Why is an MED multiweb steel crankshaft better than a standard type? The counterbalance effect is especially impressive with the multiweb, even more so than the regular EN40B steel crankshaft. An improved counterbalance effect helps to reduce the 'whip' often encountered with the three main bearing A-Series crankshaft, to improve longevity and performance at higher RPM levels. The design utilises a narrower yet larger diameter big end journal size for extra strength along the crankshaft. The EN40B steel crankshaft is best for when regulations do not permit a multiweb crankshaft - for all else this is the ultimate setup.

Why not dry assemble without the thrust washer and measure gap with feeler gauges? Much easier to do accurately

This seems a much easier method of determining the clearance.
