Please for the love of god develop one of these for the reliant ohv engine range. New timing sprockets and tensioners are unavailable and have been for several years, and commonly available chains are not of great quality. Not only that but front cover oil seal leaks are a problem because the pulleys are inevitably worn out by the original leather style oil seal.

Hi, nice info there. I just purchased a slightly tuned Mini with around 90HP with some of your parts. The clutch has almost no feel and no travel, I suspect the plunger could be half broke, could be other thing, first thing I'll check once the car arrives. In the near future I'll have to replace the bearing because it sounds a bit, what clutch system do you recommend for my setup? Its a 72 A series with a pre verto clutch, something for back roads fast driving and an ocassional track day maybe. Thanks!

Great stuff. I have a 1430 cc A+- engined Morris 1000 Traveller. I'm pretty sure that it has some/many of your bits on it. Emerald ECU runs it beautifully. Only as a road-car though and off the road because the wood's falling off in parts.

I converted the pulley my 998 fast road to a multi rib type, similar to the type used on the Japanese MPis. Its great for dealing with Belt squeal, especially if you have airconditioning on. Would I be able to fit the crank damper to a multi rib type pulley?

Its not so labour intensive and fairly a simple process, so why are they so expensive???
@MEDEngineeringTechVideosАй бұрын
Material cost and an enormous energy bill. Forging the piston is only the first process. There are many hours of machining once forged.

Finally someone else who puts the rear mount bolts in from underneath to keep the bare threads in the boot instead of covered in road muck 👍
@martinfidel708613 күн бұрын
how close to the fuel tank are they ? in a rear end crash can they contact and pierce the tank ... also the Engineering reason for the bolts to be downhill is that if the nuts fall off you would feel a certain amount of movement and get it fixed, however when uphill the bolts can fall out easily and the rear of the subframe would then be loose to move about fairly easily.
@ClassicMinishorts13 күн бұрын
@@martinfidel7086 plenty of room, I'd not be concerned about either of those issues, the amount these are driven compared to the frequency the bolts are looked at and checked both would never fall out and it's quite far from the tank, an accident that would puncture the tank would leave me with much bigger problems!
@martinfidel708613 күн бұрын
@@ClassicMinishorts I just remember the Ford "pinto" fires and these are close enough in a rear end to deform and make contact, the bolts are directly underneath the tank, it's why I asked the question.

Let me start by apologizing for my ignorance, can someone explain what in the world is going on w this head. Are the intake and exhaust ports on the same side? It also doesn't have press in seats, the valve seat is cut directly into the casting. The rockers are unlike anything I've ever seen. What block does this fit and what series is the head meant for?
@majikthyse2 ай бұрын
It seem you have not heard of the BMC A Series engine, made from 1951 to 2000. Did you think it was for an American V8? Actually the A Series design owed a lot to an American engine that Austin had been making during the war under licence. The ports are all on the same side for reasons of manufacturing cost and compact design. Did you notice what was even more odd? The two centre exhaust ports only have one outlet, so the manifold is a three branch not 4. It really should not have worked as well as it did.

@@MadeInGreatBritain They're massively over engineered. The tower bolts are just holding the subframe towers in position, with the weight on the car on the subframe and the remaining four mounts taking the load.
