Looking good I have been wondering about doing same modification to mine if modification the right word lol.. just in process of chopping boot out similar to your work so time to think about it👍
@upbuild43974 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you 👍. Yeah it’s a good time to do it if you have it stripped down. It’s can be a bit of a tricky panel that boot floor panel, that’s if you’re using the magnum repair panel. Hope it goes well for you buddy 👍👍

I'd cut down the wire feed to 3.5 and set to full whack,those spots will detach when ground

I have seen this done poorly with the lamps ending up too separate from the boot lid and kind of pointing outward. Your´s look spot on. How did you came up with then 33 mm. measure parameter to locate the plate? Are those the Minispres plates? thanks for posting! just discovered your channel and subscribed.
@upbuild43974 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you very much for that and for subscribing, I really appreciate it a lot 👍👍. Almost all of the work we have done has been mostly from carefull and methodically studying pictures. I have taken some measurements for a couple of mk1’s but mostly pictures.

Your jig looks great ..has it been chromed?
@upbuild43974 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you👍 Yeah a few people have mentioned the shinny jig, some of the material we made the jig with was from shop display units so was already chromed 😁 👍👍

You went at a fair old pace through shottley mind. Lol. Would you consider selling your rotisserie when your finished. I was going to knock one up myself but time is something I don't have. Cheers.

Hi! yeah that was a bit speeded up in the editing haha, it made my work van sound quite good too 😜 will probably want to keep the jig for future project. 👍👍

@@upbuild4397 ok cheers. It was worth an ask. Your welding is cracking. The rear light panel has turned out good.

wow a 205 gti....is it the 1,6 or 1.9..?? great vid guys did you get much distortion with heat from welding..?
@upbuild43974 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you 👍 The 205 Gti is originally a 1.9 but It’s an Mi16 conversion. I’ve had it since 2003, I stripped it and seam welded the shell about 5 years ago then life got in the way haha! I haven’t gotten back to it since. Hopefully should have some updates on it soon though 😁. 👍👍

will you also be adjusting the rear window size to match the Mk1, not that anyone ever notices it
@upbuild43974 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yeah we’re going to be doing the small rear window too, I have the infill panels to do it with, I show them in one of my earlier videos (Classic Mini Mk1 Build - New Part.) I was going to make the infills myself but m-machine sell them which is handy 😄
@kramer264 жыл бұрын
You know, back in the 70s everyone would take their Mk1 shells and fit Mk2 rear lights by welding in the retaining straps behind and building up the area outside with filler. Now, everyone wants to recreate the Mk1 look on their Mk3 and 4 shells. Shame Heritage don't do much, if anything, in the way of Mk1 panels, but can't do much without the original press molds I guess...

What wire size do you use and settings on the welder, I just bought the same one
@upbuild43973 жыл бұрын
Hi! Congrats on getting the new welder, it’s a great welder. I generally use 0.6mm wire and depending on the thickness of what I’m welding I have it on setting 2 on amps with 5 on the wire speed and for a bit thicker material 3 on the amps and 6 on the wire feed.check out this link to one of my videos kzbin.info/www/bejne/onKniWObhLV6nJo I showed the settings I use in this video at 11:30 minutes. 👍
