Great job so far,this is the most fustrating job on the mini maintenace be side finding the motor mounts.If someone would invent eyes on your finger tips,you could make alot of money.

That engine steady is actually aftermarket but still useful none the less. For y out e bottom hose it's actually easier to remove the bottom hose at the water pump end, also saves your knuckles too

Yes but for the spi the bottom hose has 5 attachments to it, so would mean undoing 4 connections

Bale, is the grill chrome or aluminum? Mine is all tarnished and I’m just wondering how to polish it.

Hello , i have luke warm heaters in my metro ,i have done a reverse flush ,but still the same can the old water pump cause this ,the car doesnt over heat ect
@DBMiniDIY Жыл бұрын
Check the temp of the coolant coming into the heater matrix, the usual culprits are a stuck, faulty heater valve or a blockage in the coolant hose or heater matrix itself
@macker8017 Жыл бұрын
@@DBMiniDIY would should the temp be going in to matrix 👍
@DBMiniDIY Жыл бұрын
@@macker8017 the same as the temp as the coolant hose in the engine before it meets the valve

Does taking the shroud off help with radiator extraction?
@DBMiniDIY2 жыл бұрын
No as it has nolts on the bottom that are just as awkward to reach when its in place

It depends on whether yours has the rubber shroud on the right of the radiator as you look at it (the one in this video does not). I've just changed the pump on my wife's SPI which has the rubber shroud, as well as the metal one. To ease extraction I removed the shrouds. I also released the rad, tipped it back towards the wing & removed the fan from the pump. I was then able to lift the rad out, complete with the bottom hose. On refitting, I had to refit the fan before the rad (because either side of the fan is a plate; through these & the fan, the fixing bolts need to align with the pump - not really possible with the rad in the way). I put the new bottom hose on the rad before putting the rad in position & was able to reasonably easily connect the hoses to the engine & heater. I then had the problem of refitting the stupid shroud(s) set-up before fixing the rad in position. To ease the process, get yourself a set of f**k off screwdrivers (mine are 450mm long in the shaft) & tiny hands (mine are like JCB digger blades!). Note: the fan has "Engine side" embossed onto one side to make for correct fitting!
