Classic Motorcycle Restoration - 1989 Yamaha FZR250R - Ep 4.

Reassembly of my classic motorcycle, a 1989 Yamaha FZR250R finally begins now parts have come back from paint. Watch as I get stuck into my first ever project and try to restore a classic 80's sports bike.

Great tutorial. Please of possible instead of music we would like to hear your commentary or instructions about how to do things, what to be aware of etc. I think yours is the only channels focused on yamaha fzr restorations so every bit of information is of an incredible value. I will try to add some more commentary on what I'm doing, problem is I have never done it before so I am just figuring it out as I go along, I am probably not the best person to give advice on this. I might make a video on what my process is and what I'm using as reference, that would possibly be helpful.

also .. you probably saw the 2KR on trademe in that black/gold scheme . looked gorgeous, if that's what you're going for, great choice . i would have bought it but wanted the 3ln3.

I was actually out there getting a part the other day, nothing absolutely necessary, just me being particular, I'm pretty well set for parts for the first one atleast. I keep hearing about carbs being an issue on these bikes so I have a keyster rebuild kit ready to go when I get to that point if it needs it or for the second one. I have seen the black and gold 2KR version and it's nice, but not what I'm going to be doing with this, highly likely no one has the paint scheme I'm going to do on a FZR250R, it's 80s yamaha inspired.... I won't say any more at this stage.

Brother you're killing me! Ditch the sandals and put some proper work shoes on. Great video so far those grommets for the cluster were impressively restored did you boil them in soapy water to give them a bit of sponginess? Was the subframe powder coated? What sort of paint was used on the suspension? Thanks in advance.

Classic kiwi safety jandals, might take a bit more convincing (or cold weather) to get shoes on my feet yet. Grommets were just put in a sandblaster for a few seconds to take the paint off and then just cleaned them up with some car quick detailer afterwards. All the paint was done professionally by an auto painter, no powder coating so far. I have done a couple of smaller pieces with an enamel paint clear coated with lyndar 2k clearcoat.
