It’s helpful to use the fuel consumed feature instead of the fuel gauge. It takes all the mystery out.

Thanks a lot, that helped me installing it without problems! I just bought the wrong pliers, so I had to solder the cables to the pins, for I could not press the pins tight enough with a small pliers.

Mine got about 130 miles on the highway. I didn't make any attempts to be fuel efficient until it started flashing at the end. I didn't run it fully out but it started flashing at around 120mi and when I got home at 128mi from a trip. I very carefully and lightly rode to the gas station about 2 miles away the next morning and didn't have any stutters. I wish I recorded how much gas I put in but I do remember it was definitely pretty empty.

There is a model of what the dam and area looks like up at Finlay park. The Dam was just out in front of the Finlay park area. The power station itself is actually just below an island a little down stream from it.

Hello mate. NZ looks stunning! I've been a fan of the black version since I first saw the bike, but the blue one is beginning to grow on me. There are no dealers offering a test ride of the bike, but I sat on it and it felt right, so I'm going to order one next week. What's your l/100km and range?

14 liters is about 3.7 gallons. Yesterday, I filled up with about 11 miles on the fuel light. It took 2.9 gallons, which means the fuel light comes on at 2.7 gallons consumed. So, there's about 1 gallon or 50 miles of reserve to go when the fuel light comes on. Somewhere I had read that there's only 2.1 liters of reserve. Can anyone weigh in with their experience/knowledge?
@kalnwi2023
@kalnwi2023 6 ай бұрын
The gallon seems logical, I mean Yamaha wouldn't give you only 20 miles left..right ? 50 yes.
@reallypeacedoff
@reallypeacedoff 4 ай бұрын
I recently picked up a 2023 and when the fuel light began flashing, I went straight to the fuel station-about 1 mile away. Filled up 2.7 gallons too. So seems like the light flashes when you have 1 gallon remaining. I'm getting 36mpg or so which puts me at 133 miles a tank, theoretically. Better gas and under 3500rpm would help but not sure I could squeeze another 40 miles.

I just got done on a long road trip in FL, crossing "alligator alley" and just cruised at 60-65 with -1 on the front sprocket. Got over 50 mpg EASILY not being super conservative. Could have done more. Also have full exhaust, intake, and Vcyclenut flash.

How does it fit with just the top bag fitted? I’m considering this and the MT09 SP and MT10. This is my favorite I think but I’m apprehensive due to the lack of luggage options and windscreen choice for trips. I don’t like huge bags and windscreens but even for smaller more sporty options, this bike has extremely limited support unfortunately.

lol, i got a frame and engine half stripped standing up in the back of the shed. at some point i was musing over making it into a low rider... take the rear subframe off... throw some pegs off the steel engine brackets... got the ape-hangers ready... i hate cruisers but it would be hilarious... got plans on supercharging one anyway... one day. the way the alternator is stuck on like an afterthought, a belt will slip in behind the flywheel... um. valves. valve seats. they get "the chugs". they start, but give them WOT and they simply sit there and chug. everyone chases carbs... turning teh fuel off makes them come to life again, usually... its the inlet valves. good luck finding a shop to do them at this size! i made a whole bunch of custom cutters as there are no commercially available cutters to do the seats, and so any shop will charge a fortune just to tool up... so i get to charge the fortune for what takes five minutes! yeah, ok, about 4 hours... stripping valves, cleaning, grinding, re assembling, re-shimming. hate that part! gotta pull the cams 3 times! first with random small shims to get the first measurement, then again to check the new measurement, and then finally, to get the head back on... once you know whats in there, write it down and save it somewhere! yeah. dressing the valves properly takes a shed ridden POS to a running instant starting bike with no issues... if it has no other gremlins, that is... omfg. 30 year old bikes have LOTS of gremlins!

I saw this bike at the dealer and fell in love with the looks. But the seating position on it for me as a short rider feels a bit too agressive since i dont have the longest arms. I ride a 2020 mt07 now and the bike is very comfortable super upright. The MT09 is very similar to the MT07, but i would love to test ride an XSR, if i like the seating position i would definitely buy this instead

Hey man, I love the build so far. I think the screws on an old Honda are JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) and if you are using a Phillips head screwdriver that may be why the screws are being damaged easily. I hope this helps. By the way, I am really jealous of what you are doing.
@LindseyExplores
@LindseyExplores Жыл бұрын
I actually haven't come across many if any phillips or jis head screws (2 total from memory) most are hex head. The only ones I had an issue with were 2 on the master cylinder which were very corroded on this bike, the doner bike was good as. I was all prepared for JIS to be the main fixing but it's honestly 99% hex heads. More videos are on the way soon, fairings are here but life got very busy for a short time.

Not sure where you are in the world but they are made in Auckland here in New Zealand. I had 2 options, I could have sent them the old lines and they would measure them but what I did was use thier online custom tool and measured them myself. Very happy with the service and quality. Pretty sure they ship internationally aswell.
