Just ordered your book! I've started buying things to get my 170 litre fish tank started up. It'll probably take a while as I'm on a limited budget. Just got the pump/filter ordered. Probably not the very best out there, but I figured it'll be good enough to get started. :)

With the first Amazonia, you could change the water every day, but with the current new Amazonia, there is no such need, it is enough every 3 days. A super classic aquarium. Greetings from Poland.

Watching your videos, especially the setup and workshop ones never get old. Always learning no matter how many I watch. Great video George and take care of that colander! Lol! Next thing for me is to get my hands on your book 📖 So looking forward to it! Maybe wait till the next shipment of autograph ones go out! I have a picture of us from the Aquatic Experience in New Jersey that I want to place in it for my collection. Thank you George for all that you do for this incredible hobby! Keep on scaling my friend!

Hi George on the subject of your comment of filming with your iPhone, personally I think you've done a great job with it so far but to get to the next step up in overall picture and sound quality you need an upgrade for your camera and microphone gear then your already very good tutorials will be propelled to infinity and beyond. Lol.

Nice layout. I do the planting into dry soil too. It's easier. However I don't like so much the foreground layer. It seems too thick. Anyway, thanks for showing us.

I'm planning my first actually big aquascape that does not include stem plants and I was just thinking how on earth will I manage to start it without algae - the tip regarding floating plants was really helpful! I will definitely be using that instead of planting some stems temporarily like my original plan was.

hi george, if you switch your camera to 'shutter speed prioritise' mode, and mess with the shutter speed a bit, you can get rid of the flicker, to do that, your shutter speed should proportion to the electric frequency (50Hz / 60Hz). if you still need to adjust the brightness of the footage, you could do it via ' exposure compensation' dial. : ) or if you really don't want to deal with it, some camrea may have an option inside the setting menu saids 'reduce flickering while recording' or something goes like that, click it and the camera will do it for you automatically

Crypt melt is not a bad thing. The plant is just munching down its own leaves for a quick sugar boost to grow better leaves suited to the new conditions.

When using the ADA soil and substrate system with an 8-10 week dry steady method for carpeting plants, is it still advised to perform the daily 50% water changes for the first week once water has been added and then every other day for the second week? I’ve heard that ADA soil DSM setups are essentially considered nitrogen cycled by the time water is added. If that’s true, I’m wondering if the established nitrifying bacteria in the substrate have any appreciable impact on the amount of ammonia present during start up?
@glasscanvasart52733 жыл бұрын
It makes sense that the bacteria population will become established. However, as the volume of water will be minimal, the concentration of NH3 might be so high and be inhibitive to bacteria growth. Personally I would do water changes every other day for a couple of weeks.

Quick question for anyone with an answer! Last month i put together my first tank that was a lot like this one but ive had so many issues with my water being a purplish darkish hue. I used spiderwood (soaked prior to adding), as well as a black substrate which i also rinsed very well before adding. I have a filter that i believe filters 75 gallons an hour in my 10 gallon tank. Its been 5 weeks of 40% water changes twice a week and im still having this problem. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Not a huge fan of the criss crossed wood. Seems to be in a lot of your scapes and maybe want to change it up a bit.
