My new tank is 60 gallons, and I want to make sure my plants flourish! I’ll be purchasing a wider variety than I’ve had before, and I’d hate for them all to wither away due to inexperience. Another great video and lovely aquarium. Success is always linked to balance. Light, CO2 and nutrients. A great video would be how to spot if you have too much or too little of each of these. Often aquarists don’t know which parameter to change, or in which direction. e.g. if you have algae, is this because of too little light, starving the plant of the ability to photosynthesise or too much light, starving the plant of nutrients. How to achieve the right balance would make for a great in-depth series.

Thanks for your videos which have definitely inspired me to get back into the hobby after a break of several years. Three questions. 1) You always emphasise the importance of circulation. Why do you have the filter inlet and outlet next to one another? I always had them at opposite ends of the aquarium. 2) At 9.20 you say you do 50% water changes - how often do you do them? 3) I previously had a heating element buried in the substrate but I have not seen this included in any of the videos I have watched. Is this heating not used nowadays?
@GeorgeFarmerStudios5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the feedback. The filter inlet and outlet together promotes better all-round circulation. If they are at opposite ends the flow in more linear with dead spots being more likely. I change 50% water weekly. Substrate heating is rarely used nowadays.

Awesome stuff George, I love this tank! I'm building my first high tech with a WRGB2 Slim for a 90p - As you mentioned here in the lighting section, do you find it best to use the lights for the full 8 hour photoperiod right off the jump but reduce the intensity for the first week and slowly work up to 100%?
@keithdouglas87075 жыл бұрын
The key to success is money and lots of it for example that light is $800 in Australia. But you can still achieve success on a budget. Aqua soil, good filtration and flow, a light that is 6000k and liquid fertilisers along with a good maintenance schedule and you will succeed and you don't need co2 to succeed.

Absolutely. I have a playlist of videos outlining budget aquascaping too

Hi George! You are a great teacher 👨🏫. I would like more info on the health of the livestock vs what we put in our tanks. I always worry when i fertilize for example. I am afraid it hurts them in the long run. Other subject would be the uv and electrolyse sterilizers. Again thank you for the coaching. Looking forward to your book release.

Another great video George! Most fertilizers say dose once or twice a week. In your case doing daily, are you doing lighter amounts more frequently? Or standard amount everyday ?
@GeorgeFarmerStudios5 жыл бұрын
I usually divide the weekly dose into 7 daily doses, then multiply according to the system. More light, CO2 and plants I dose much more, for example.

Hi George. Great videos. I'll be purchasing your book. 👍 How long have you been running with one filter. I'm guessing your not running into trouble because the tank is mature. Also, there's more load on that single heater. Maybe that's why it's on more. I'm looking to purchase the 1500 aquarium this year. I called into aquarium Gardens. Great shop. The one oversite I didn't consider was the actual running costs of the tank. Did you notice a increase in your electricity bills running the 1200 with two oase. Thanks.

I like your scaping, and I know you say about alternative equipment like standard glass ect but almost all your setups use the most expensive brand name kits from glass, lights to soil. Some of us use a cheap SunSun filter, top soil from b&q and sand from the beach in a second hand jewel. 🤣 As for carbon! Do you blow co2 on your house plants?
